...including Attorney General Eric Holder, under whom the Dept. of Justice could more accurately be described as the Dept. of Payback.

Great line...

One reason the U.S. has prospered is because when the colonists revolted against the ruling government, the people who came into power put into place a system which corrected the exploitations they felt they had experienced.

One of the great failings of the Republican administrations
has been an unwillingness and inability to correct
the policies put in place by the opposition.

I’m reading an interesting book right now (From Poverty to Prosperity) that attributes the economic differences between rich countries and poor countries to societal “software”. Things like rule of law, trust in your fellow man, representative government, lesser governmental regulation, etc.

Our Founders left us some really, really good software.

There is obviously something there with very deep emotional appeal. Moreover, because nothing is easier to find than sins among human beings, there will never be a lack of evil deeds to make that explanation seem plausible.

Too many of his appointees exhibit a similar alienation, including Attorney General Eric Holder, under whom the Dept. of Justice could more accurately be described as the Dept. of Payback.

'the world' seeks another messiah, whether they *believe* the Book or not...its easier to convince em to blame the other 6 billion people, rather than look within...

That’s the funny thing about the 0. He is like a loud smelly wind in an elevator. You might remember the immediate discomfort for a time-may even laugh about it -or express momentary shame-or embarrassment but in a very short time you a dam ting about ‘im. As true of the 0 as it is of dat loud smelly wind. There aint nothin’ I find memorable about the man.

With great respect for the sagacity of Thomas Sowell I must point out that his sentence.

”While there have been conquered peoples made poorer by their conquerors, especially by Spanish conquerors in the Western Hemisphere, in general most poor countries were poor for reasons that existed before the conquerors arrived. “ gives a false impression of the “Spanish conquerors” effect on the aboriginal people of Central and South America.

Whereas the advent of the Anglo-sphere impoverished and almost exterminated the North American indians, the Spanish influence
was much more mixed. In some cases the Spanish were somewhat beneficial to the economic well being of the natives of so called ”Latin America.

Prior to the Spanish arrival the peasants in Mexico were fodder for the elite Aztec’s human sacrifice and cannibalism. The Spanish dethroned this cruel ruling elite and brought some cultural and technological benefits to the common man which has eventually placed among the better off among the worlds ethnic groups. It is my personal opinion that the spiritual benefit was enormous.

One might check into the Spanish effect on the Guarani tribes of the Jesuit governed Reducciones. The missionary Jesuits arrived in Paraguay in 1588. In 1610 Philip III proclaimed that only the “sword of the word” should be used to subdue Paraguayan Indians. Under Jesuit administration the Guarani became cultured and comparatively quite wealthy for almost two centuries, the average person’s well-being far exceeded that of any European country at the time. They were the world’s first society to achieve 100% literacy.

One of Sowell’s insightful exposures of the leftist mindset came out in his “Intellectuals and Society” book.

The non-ruling leftists, whom I refer to as “sheeperals”, have the primary desire to feel good about themselves as “good people”. They get this affirmation by holding certain positions on the issues at hand.

The “ruling class” leftists know that they are destroying society and causing misery, but if they can explain their intentions in ways that the sheeperals will feel good about themselves for supporting, then they need not fear any deeper examination of the consequences of their policies.

Spunky, you really ought to read that book quite closely.

Not only is it very well written by Bill Ayers, but it is THE official legend created for Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. It is the reason behind his change back from Barry Soetoro.

It contains the core belief-system of Obama and hence, his ideas for the rest of us. It also highlights the fundamental falseness of his self- (Ayers) created history. The book is just as important as "Mein Kampf."

Yes, that is a great line. It’s precisely how Holder has used the DOJ for his boss, in reality they are two of a kind.

In a wider view of history, however, it becomes clear that, for centuries before the European ascendancy, Europe lagged far behind China in many achievements.

The problem with China is they had a whole lot of neat stuff but no one wanted to get his hands dirty improving the lives of the peasants.

It was much the same with the Greeks, their thinkers came up with many cool inventions and could have started the move toward a modern society much sooner but they might have chipped a nail. Nothing has held a civilization back more then the foolishness that "A gentleman does not get his hands dirty."
