What would you rather have govern - the Republic, or The Mob?

I don't understand your question. We got along quite well without any "police" amongst us for at least the lifetime of the Framers. Read de Tocqueville sometime.

I disagree. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, from TJ himself. The dancing was very very mild, one person was just moving his head in a rythmic motion.

More alphabet stormtroppers who will bodyslam and put the boot to your head for not “saying, yes sir master, right away master”. If they were doing it at Arlington then I could bend a little bit but TJ penned life, liberty & happiness. And they were not causing a desturbince. The stormtroppers did.

And last but not least. Most of us sit and whine on a keyboard. These men and women are actually fighting for our God given rights. I pray they remove the blinders many people wear.

If those stortroppers had one brain between them, they would have a little wisdom. That means they escort the dancers outside of the building. Have a nice talk with them.

Say we will talk to the brass and see what can be done. In the meantime, you have made your point, more power to you. Why dont you go home, regroup and make plans for the furture after brass looks into it.

But now, the parasites with guns, the law (haha what a joke) let power go their puny brains and slam people around in a very important public square so “we the people” will get more and more use to the police state.

God bless America!!

They did taser one fella in a brown shirt. He was holding on to one of the first persons who was arrested and all of a sudden he rolls over.

"We got along quite well without any "police" amongst us for at least the lifetime of the Framers."

Right. Nobody kept slaves on the plantation.... they just stayed there of their own free will.

de Tocqueville?  Pffft.  Screw him and the effeminate aristocratic jackwagon he rode in on.  The Fwench socialist/communist Mob evidently read lots of de Tocqueville - how'd that work out again, Comrades?  FAIL.

America is a Republic, not a Mob-ruled Democracy; and a Republic is a system of government constituted by a framework of laws.  The American Republic was architected with a constrained purpose in mind:

"TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS, governments are instituted among men"

So, should the associated laws be enforced?   Who/what effects the securing?  The Mob?  Horsemen wearing bed sheets?

Right. Nobody kept slaves on the plantation.... they just stayed there of their own free will.

From what I can see from Edward Ayers, Vengeance and Justice: Crime and Punishment in the Nineteenth-Century American South, it appears the first police force, such as it was, was formed in New Orleans in 1809.

So the answer to your question is, yes, for the most part before that they did; albeit sometimes with the fear of what would happen to them if they were caught.

History books are your friends, especially here at FR. And anyone who dismisses de Tocqueville's report of the American scene in the 1830s really self labels as an ignoramus.

>>for the most part before that they [slaves] did [stay their master's "property"]  of their own free will.

Uhuh.

Idiot.

Oh, and, once again for the record - SCREW de Tocqueville and the aristocratic jackwagon he, Napoleon, and the Fwench Communist MOB rode in on.

It's a REPUBLIC not a democracy.

Hey! Thanks for your photo from the early 1800s. I've never seen one before.

You really need to read some history. How do you think slaves met and married? How did they go to church? Or get around on their day off with their legs in shackles? You might try Fremantle's Three Months in the Southern States. It isn't specifically about slave life, but it does offer glimpses into it which are probably more realistic than the image you have.

Danced with Dennis Mahon

Never even heard of the guy. Is he a friend of yours?

Revisionist Idiots likes you...

I'm a revisionist idiot because I suggest you read a first hand account from a foreigner about what life was like in the South? FTR, Sherlock, I've never lived south of Long Island (NY). I just learned that all they taught in high school isn't all there is to know.

You’re a revisionist idiot.

I hope that you feel that saying this over and over will somehow make up for your lack of education.

And BTW, I never said slaves were property willingly anymore than I willingly give half of my income to pay for things I do not believe in. We are all born into a world where we really have little control of our surroundings but try to make the best of things. I don't know about you but I would much rather have been Thomas Jefferson's slave than a coal miner in western Virginia. You may think slavery is the worst of all human conditions because the North had to come up with some feelgood justification for the destruction it caused here in the 1860s, but I assure you that there are much worse human conditions than those that African slaves lived under here in the United States.

As opposed to being an over-edumacated Revisionist Idiot?

Danced at any Klan rallies lately with Code Pink, International ANSWER and the usual assorted Marxist asshats who were dancing at the Jefferson Memorial, ehh comrade?

NO SALE.

>>I never said slaves were property willingly

Oh, then you want to retract your assertion that they stayed on the plantation willingly?

Evidently you're not as edumacated as you think you are / pretend to be.

Well NO SALE.

Maybe, since you don't like the laws here in America - you should dance your America-hating arse off in Sudan?

Islamic Slavery in Sudan

...The International Criminal Court this week issued warrants for the arrest of Ahmed Haroun, the minister for humanitarian affairs of Sudan, and Ali Kosheib, a leader of that country’s notorious janjaweed militia...
