The NFL was like an eight-team league back then so even a 19th-round pick probably wasn’t that bad a football player.

He was probably no larger than your typical NFL tight end of today.

12 teams. Six east, six west. Let's see?

East: Giants, Browns, Steelers, Eagles, Redskins, Cardinals
West: Bears, Rams, 49ers, Colts, Packers, Lions

Actually, the NFL was not similar to an eight-team league in any way, shape, or form back in the 1950's.
