Illinois is on the verge of becoming the first state to create a private college scholarship fund for the children of undocumented immigrants.
The Illinois House, which on Thursday passed a state version of the DREAM Act by a 61-53 vote, sent a bill to Gov. Pat Quinn that would set up a state fund that would route privately funded college scholarships to as many as 95,000 children of undocumented immigrants.
The children would be able to obtain private college scholarships and enroll in state savings programs.
The measure, which Quinn, a Democrat, has said he plans to sign, had already passed the state Senate.
In a statement released after the House passed the measure, Quinn said: "I believe everyone has the right to a first-class education, and the Illinois DREAM Act strengthens Illinois' commitment to ensuring education for all."

There are countless private scholarships for illegals and several states who allow in-state tuition for illegals and many college departments that give brownie points to illegals over citizens. This was bound to be the next atrocity.

It is, this is supposed to be private funded, but it is being steared towards this group....and I am not sure of the resident status of the students.....
Also, there is a lot of competition for college seats. Glad to know IL is taking care of the “undocumented” children of the state.
Hmmm what about the children of legal citizens?

How the hell can it be "private" if it is run and administered by the STATE?

working on it...
A man who was killed trying to protect his girlfriend and a 16-year-old girl were among six people killed and at least 21 others wounded in separate shootings over the Memorial Day holiday and into the night, officials said.

The article lacks specifics on the funding. The article talks about private scholarships but the funding seems to be provided by taxpayers. There seems to be a confusion between public and private money. What is the funding level and impact on the state budget? What are the administration costs? It seems that the state of Illinois has now gone into the immigration business. This law will require the state to determine immigration status. Is the state then complicit in the immigration status?
