I agree. I think it’s the only position she has that I disagree with, but it’s a big one.

This woman is 100x the campaigner that Barry or any of our outher Republicans is. When Barry wants to show the common touch, he starts shouting in a faux-macho voice. Palin is just naturally so much more gracious than he can even fasion himself to be.
To be honest, no one knows her plan, because she hasn't produced one yet. All we have are some single statements here and there that people are trying to work into a cohesive whole, and often with their own prejudices.
Personally, I'd discount anything she said as McCain's running mate. Her statements since the 2008 campaign have generally been in favor of increased enforcement of immigration laws (such as standing by Arizona).
I don't pretend to know what the "registration" concept is, but there is a possible option that isn't an amnesty, at least not a full one. (Note that what follows is simply thinking on my part, not intended to be representative of anyone's policy position.)
That is, those currently here illegally can register to become temporary guest workers for a limited time period before they need to return to their country of origin. That would allow them to put their affairs in order and depart in an orderly fashion. Those who don't register would face immediate deportation (and confiscation of assets).
It'd still be a partial amnesty in that those who apply for registration would not face immediate deportation and/or prosecution, but not amnesty as the Bush/McCain/Graham crowd would approve of.
Frankly, I'd be fine if anyone who does the registration and then leaves at the end of their work permit does not have their previous illegal entry counted against them if and when they apply through proper channels for an immigrant or non-immigrant visa. (They'd still have to start at the back of the line, though.) That's an amnesty of sorts as well.
In any event, those guilty of felonies not related to their own illegal entry should be prosecuted and/or deported, with no chance of being allowed to return.
Now, is this plan perfect? No, and I doubt it would satisfy the hard-core crowd. But it would be far more workable (both politically and practically) than attempting to round up millions and millions of folks and physically deporting them. Let's face it, that will never happen -- even if we had the ability, manpower, and will to do so, it'd be stopped by the first federal judge who can put pen to paper on the grounds of what happens in the case of a mistake.

Yeah, then what? What exactly do they get by registering? Their kids in school? Free health care? Food stamps? Housing assistance? Union membership? A SSN? A Drivers License? In-state tuition at state universities? Cash-for-clunkers?
You say her "plan" is the only one that makes sense...how about adressing the above?
