A California bill working its way through the state legislature providing more protection for transgender individuals in the workplace could allow for cross-dressing employees to wear whatever they want to work, despite workplace dress codes.

AB 887, which passed through the state's Assembly on May 16, is causing a stir among critics who feel it's raising the identity of a transgender individual to the same level as one's ethnicity or gender.

So, will the dress codes still apply for heterosexuals?? Or can every normal person groom anyway they want, too?

Fur shur if you are straight and your dress deviates from the expectations the non-straight crowd has for you the authorities will pick you up and punish you for public ridicule and embarassment of the non-straights.

“...providing more protection for transgender individuals in the workplace could allow for cross-dressing employees to wear whatever they want to work...”

But if they’re cross-dressing, then they are NOT transgendered. And vice-versa. Unless they’re talking about men who have had gender reassignment surgeries subsequently dressing as...men?

Why can’t I ever understand?

In workplaces this is ‘supported’, let every dude go in dressed in stripper heels, a micro-mini and a halter top - all neon colors.

If the boss fires them, sue them. After all, the guys are just ‘questioning’ after all... That’s discrimination. Who is to say they aren’t legit?

Eventually you’d have all these ‘tolerant’ business owners screaming for a repeal rather than paying the lawyers every other week.

Political correctness trumps everything.

Just waiting to see a companion bill, relating to public bathroom issues for all of these individuals. The liberals in Sacramento could certainly get behind that idea.

Why does anyone want to own a business in CA? Why does anyone want to live there?

That’s what I was thinking.

I mean, how do you not laugh when a guy built like a linebacker prances around the workplace in a frilly dress?

I feel sorry for any conservative left stranded there. A beautiful stare wrecked by liberals. I lived there a short while in 78-79. Was still nice then but getting bad. Now? God help it.

Boiled frog syndrome. If this bill came up for a vote even ten years ago, what to speak of 20 years, people wouldn't even believe such insanity could occur. Civil disobedience will happen. People have been way too tolerant for too long.

I'll have to take your word for it. The only time I visited was a convention in Orange County and the air was filthy - absolutely full of crap. I'd never seen air pollution that I could actually cut with a knife before then.

The real thing is this, it makes you wonder what some people were thinking of when they opposed the idea of a simple dress code. I mean seriously, is there anyone who doesn’t wish to make oneself an exception to the rule.
