I learned that their embassy there was the HQS of all Burkina Faso intelligence activity in the western hemisphere.

As if the third poorest country in the world needs an extensive overseas spy agency.

Just kidding about the intel connection. But my colleagues and I often wondered what actually they do, beside wangle invites to various embassies’ national days so they can put on the feedbag for free. Their motor pool consisted of a couple of beat-up old Soviet-made Ladas. Their embassy sat on what in any other place in the world except Havana would be some pretty valuable property, right on the Gulf of Mexico.
