Obama camp knows he has a problem with Jewish voters
American Thinker ^ | 6/3/11 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 06/03/2011 9:15:52 AM PDT by Nachum

President Obama's gut-level identification with the Palestinians has become obvious to voters, including many habitual Democrat supporters in the Jewish community. Billionaire big donor Haim Saban very publicly announced he will no longer contribute to President Obama, signaling to other Jewish donors that it is time to bail on a president who publicly calls for 1967 borders as the basis for a settlement.

This 30 second ad, produced by the Emergency Committee for Israel, is also giving heartburn to the Obamites, particularly because it uses pro-Israel Democrats to demonstrate Obama's position as out-of-step with the mainstream.

Took 'em long enough. Hussein's sympathies should've been very clear to the electorate long before Nov. '08. All the info was out there. But even when they DID hear the facts they probably just chalked it up to "Fox News and conservative talk radio hateful propaganda." ....even though none of them actually watch or listen to such media.

It’s not the votes that concern them, it’s the donations (or lack thereof) that could be a problem.

You might be surprised. They bough Soetoro’s BS in 2008, but since then its become obvious that there has never been a US president so hostile to Israel. Many Jews, even the liberal ones, have a deep attachment to their homeland, which is now being seriously threatened not just by the Arabs (they’re used to that), but also by the Kenyan-born Muslim in the White House.

Hopefully the liberal Jews wake up and smell the coffee. A Jewish vote for Obama is like a Jewish vote for Hitler in the 1933 election.

More like 90 percent of the Jewish vote will ultimately go to Obama. This is a group that defies belief, on this and other central issues - like firearm ownership. I think the term is “cognitive dissonance.” How on earth could any Jewish person believe that only government should have guns? Their grandparents learned the harshest possible lesson about what happens when regular citizens are disarmed, but they seem incapable of grasping the obvious - much as they are/will be in regard to Obama.

No he doesn’t. The seemingly zombie like voting record of the American Jewish population will not be swayed by more than a couple % points. Liberal siding with Israel’s enemies is nothing new. If the American Jewish population were offended by this, they would have changed their voting habits eons ago.

American jews hate Israel. Plain and simple. I deal with jews all the time here in L.A. and they are proud Democraps.

The rise of anti-semitism on the left has been obvious for the last 20 years. It's become so accepted on the left that it's a mainstream position (Dick Morris quit working for the Clintons and the left over anti-semitic remarks made by Hillary, and that was in the '90s).

Do they think the left will differntiate between "Isreali Jews" and "Ameican liberal Jews"? They won't. Plenty of Jews that fought for Germany in WW-I ended up in concentration camps under the Nazis. It didn't matter that they were loyal to Germany, all that mattered is they were Jews.

I don't understand why American Jews aren't terrorfied of the rise of anti-semitism on the left. It's becomming institutionalized in the Democratic party as a pro-palestine/anti-Israel position, but what's driving it is emotion: a deep down, hard core, hatred of Jews.

I dont’ think so. I’d expect that ANY Democrat will get the majority Jewish vote regardless of what that Democrat does - to include Praying to Allah. There is no real connection between the Jews of America and historical Jewish persecution and murder the world over, lest it be one that the American Jew drudges up to make his or her particular point when siding with a Democrat. Like it or not, it is the truth.

Obviously most are Democrats, but that doesn't automatically translate into hating Israel. Far from it. It's just that liberal Jews love their liberalism more than they care about Israel. Liberalism is their priority -- their religion. I suspect I know far more American Jews (both liberal and conservative) than you do, being Jewish and from L.A. myself. Every last one of them supports Israel -- it's just a matter of degree.

Several lifelong Dem Jewish acquaintances of mine have become Republicans in the last year out of exasperation over Hussein Obama's policies toward Israel. Wouldn't surprise me if the Kenyan gets the lowest percentage of the Jewish since Carter (45%) in 1980. A lot can happen between now and Nov. '12, but I predict Hussein will get no more than 60% (down from 78% in '08). But it's far more than the percentages, is the money. His coffers will be decidedly lighter.

Well first of all, this is good news. I don’t have a lot of faith in the younger generation of American Jews. They don’t give a rat’s rear about Israel. And, I’m sure Obama will still get 70% of the Jewish vote in 2012. (He got 78% in 2008.)But, the good news is, most of the Jewish votes are Primarily in NY and FL. If we can get the big Jewish donors to drop their support, that is good.

It's the craziest thing I ever saw. You'd think that most American Jews would be staunchly pro-2nd Amendment, and have a higher than normal percentage of gun ownership, after what their people suffered in WWII.

At least the Jews in Israel have their heads on straight when it comes to this.

Orthodox Jews support Israel, have large families, and are conservative.
Liberal,”Reformed,” and secular Jews have small families (or none at all,), intermarry with the Goyem, and support the Dim Party come Hell or high water.
Orthodox Jews will survive and sustain their ancient faith in this country. Israel’s chances of survival are a toss up.

They [Jewish voters] will still vote for him at a 90% rate.

Not even the biggest Jewish 'Rat would even dream of a 90% number. In 2008, the 78% O reputedly got was very likely an overestimate due to poor sampling technique in polling. The real number was probably somewhere in the 60s.

In 2012, look for Obama's percentage of the Jewish vote to be somewhere between 50 and 60%.

There is no bloc Jewish vote anymore, with the American Jewish community more diverse economically, geographically, and religiously. It's not like the bloc vote for the 'Rats by blacks.

I heard a reporter earlier this week on IIRC, the John Batchelor show, talking about how anticipated fundraising for Obama ‘12 is way below expectations. I would suspect that has much to do with the traditionally big buck Jewish donors sitting tight, at least for now.

All of you who say that he will still get 80% of the Jewish vote are wrong. Sure, all the libs voted with their friends for the cool black lib last time. They did not believe certain people (like ME) who tried to warn them of his Arab sympathy, if not outright anti-semitism.

But all the liberal Jews I know and have to love, LOL, do NOT like antisemites. They hate Pat Buchanan, Jimmuh Carter, etc. Obama is acting perfectly anti-semitic and they cannot fail to see it this time. Now, they will be very torn if we get a true conservative as the Pub nominee — they HATE conservatives without being able to enunciate why. I mean Palin vs. Obama for a liberal Jew will be for them a lesser of the evils vote, and I am not sure which way they will go.

But I am hearing unhappiness with Obama out there in the synagogue and family gatherings. The most important thing for your average liberal Jew is to NOT be made fun of by his friends and family. They won’t admit voting for a Pubbie for that reason, but they still might do it. And if already they are grumbling about Obama’s stance against Israel, it doesn’t bode well for him, not that the lack of Jewish votes will matter much — but it matters with the lack of Jewish SUPPORT for sure.

You should stick with the available facts. There are many Jewish Freepers who are having a very difficult time with both false and selective BS.

This old canard needs to be dealt with. The Jewish people here are very aware of this.

77 Percent of Jews Voted Obama (Exit Polls)

The polls all put Jews at 2% of the poll sample.

In 2004, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry won 74% of the Jewish vote, and in 2000, Al Gore received 79%.

The MSNBC data found the numbers amongst Christians in Tuesday’s election were far closer, with 45 percent of Protestants and other Christians and 54% of Catholics voting for Obama. Together, they made up 81%of the poll sample.

Read the comments carefully. Why would you think more Jews would vote for Obama during the next election, than during the past? How did 2% of the vote determine the election? Does your "selective" predictions include Protestants and Catholics? Look very carefully at the facts and the article.

I may keep bumping this thread until I get a response "Duke".

It appears Little Barry is losing it. He’s alienating a lot of voting blocks, which he was careful not to do early in his term.
