Can they put it in a light bulb?

A good quetion. This has been dealt with in popular science fiction. The trick is you begin sucking energy out of the vacuum and it runs wild, something comes with it, you get burned, it's a pathway to hell, it takes over this end of the galaxy, there's a sun on the other side, it's really cold, and so on.

It probably does have some future as a heat source for boiling water (to make steam to drive dynamos to run industry and stuff).
