Skip to comments.Tea Party to Back Any GOP Nominee— Including Romney [according to self-appointed tea party "leader"]

The Tea Party will support whoever wins the GOP presidential nomination - - even if that person is former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. That's the affirmative word from Tea Party Express chair Amy Kremer.

Not an ounce of fight in ya, eh?
So how do we handle this? Should there be an official party formed?
This person IS NOT THE TEA PARTY... THIS PERSON only controls one vote... their own... I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR ANY CANDIDATE THAT IS NOT CONSERVATIVE. CONSERVATIVE IS NOT PURITY... IT IS OUR IDEOLOGY... YOU EITHER ARE CONSERVATIVE... OR YOU ARE NOT. ANYONE STATING OTHERWISE IS USING LIES AS THE BASIS OF THEIR ARGUMENT... IF YOU LIKE THAT... VOTE FOR THE PRINCE OF LIES... VOTE FOR obama.
In the primaries we work our tails off to get the conservative candidate to the general.
In the general, whoever that candidate is, like it or not, you work your butt off to get that candidate elected.
Or, you get Obama.
I very nice FReeper brought this mistake to my attention. Thank you.....
You must not be married, I make mute points all the time.
Ditto that. America will NEVER get off the RINO express if we have a McCain clone as our only choice. I will definitely vote third party if Romney is the GOP candidate. Tea Party Express and Kremer can KMA if she thinks she is the new Dictator-in-Chief! Where does she get off pulling this crap?
Having someone say they speak for the entire tea party is the first hint that they are lieing. It would be as possible to speak for the tea party as it would to be corralling a herd of cats. Tea Party members are way too independent to be told who to support.
OK, people. Let’s say the republicans increase their numbers in the House, and take over the Senate. They then write bills to repeal Obamacare, lower capital gains taxes and corporate taxes, get serious about illegal immigration, reign in the EPA on Co2 emissions, and other measures that will be great for the economy and maintaining our way of life and standard of living.
Would you rather have Obama or Romney sitting in the White House? Remember, the president won’t be writing legislation. Do you really think Romney will veto these bills, as you KNOW Obama will?
We may see the greatest opportunity in generations to roll back the power and prominence of the federal government in our lives, and you would allow Obama the power to stop it all with a stroke of a pen?
Well, if Romney is in the White House, I could see a GOP Congress writing bills to lower taxes. They won’t do anything on the other things, especially Obamacare, immigration, and the EPA. The GOP Congress will take its cues from the leader of the Party, ie, Romney. He certainly won’t want to eliminate Obamacare, the EPA, or take real action on immigration. So nothing will happen.
Email Tea Party Express and tell them what you think of Amy Kremer!
I have never heard of this woman but I would bet a dime to a dollar that if someone digs deep enough she has connections to the Democrats.
Just look at the "Tea Party" candidate in last weeks New York election or the one down in Florida (I think) last year. They were actually Democrats paid to disrupt the elections.
The unholy Dems will do ANYTHING to win; anything to get, keep, and increase their power over us and enrich themselves. As a whole, they are sociopaths, maybe even psychopathic.
When we are this far out from event the first primaries or caucuses the discussion should not be "OK, we'll support RINOs or moderates because they are at least better than Obama."
Really, the discussion should be: Who is the best constitutional conservative that tea partiers should get behind and help propel them to win the GOP nomination.
No point talking about what we're willing to "settle" for. It's the same issue we always used to use to criticize those who called for a timetable for withdrawal from either Iraq or Afghanistan. You don't start the debate by saying how much you'll compromise for. You fight for what you want, and then if you're forced to settle for less you deal with that at the time you can't do any better.
I can say this Amy chick like being controversial. She had the Mark Williams guy in her organization that was forced to step down because he was a bit too mean and angry and had a controversy. Other tea party groups disliked Amy. She seems to put her nose into everything and acts like her group is above the rest. So I knew about the infighting back in late 09 within the Tea party movement. And now this. We hear don’t agree with her so she’ll have hear it when others won’t agree with her. She want Obama out no matter what, but she don’t get it that Romney would be the same crap as Obama.
Her views certainly don't reflect mine.
Right now we should be working to help the best consitutional conservative who represents tea party ideals win the GOP nomination.
The only Romney is going to make it to the White House is as a tourist.I can see the Republican Party nominating him though. What he will do is give obama 4 more years. Myself and a lot of people I have talked with, people who held their nose and voted for Mc Cain, will not vote for Romney. If the Republicn Party and those on this forum continue to push and promote him, four more years of obama is what they are going to get. If that what they want, o.k.
Agreed with your basic point. It is too far out to be talking about Romney or any other republican being any sort of foregone winner of the nomination. The tea party people should keep advocating for their issues.
I am just responding to those who would allow Obama four more years of destruction, rather than vote for Romney in a general election.
The only Romney is going to make it to the White House is as a tourist.I can see the Republican Party nominating him though. What he will do is give obama 4 more years. Myself and a lot of people I have talked with, people who held their nose and voted for Mc Cain, will not vote for Romney. In fact, Free Republic’s founder, Jim Robinson does not support him, his candidacy, nor what he stands for. If the Republicn Party and those on this forum continue to push and promote him, four more years of obama is what they are going to get. If that what they want, o.k.
I will not vote for Romney, in the primary or the general. What’s the point? I really see very little difference between Romney and Obama. The growth of government may actually be slower under Obama, as a GOP Congress will pretend to be conservative with Obama in the White House. With a Romney in there, they’ll give him everything he wants. Didn’t this fool Romney just come out and say the world is getting warmer, and humans are causing that? Do you think President Romney will reign in the EPA?
Let's just hope we don't have to get to the point where that is the choice before us.
I've not made up my mind who I am supporting for President, nor has the organization that I work for (The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama) made a decision.
But so far I admire these potential candidates or declared candidates: Gov. Sarah Palin, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain.
Include me in that.. I am fiercely opposed to Romney...he'll just finish the job Obama's started with obamacare and carbon tax...and you can be sure abortion will be granted a favorable place..... but he'll put a a different colored ribbon on it.... but it will be the same package.
Kremer just playe into the democrate hands...unlike Palin who said the GoP has to shape up and get a clue what the people want.
Kremer does not speak for the Tea Party...she got baited and this interview is the result. She needed to keep her yap shut....she does not speak for me...nor does any particilar tea party spokesman.
The Romney supporters are subtle. One told me the other day that Romney was against gun control and abortion also socialized medicine and furthermore, he had never supported those issues. The truth is something that they do not recognize and when presented with the facts, theu ignore them and continue on.
I would deal with Obama over Romney any day.....Obama is a wolf and doesn’t wear a sheeps mask very well...though he tries at times....Romney has his sheep mask on tight and groomed by his handlers.....don’t fall for it...
So yes, I will go third party over voting for Romney even if it means Obama gets another 4 yrs. At least we know he’s a wolf....and how to fight him..Romney will be flip flopping like a fish out of water....a moving target.
I just e-mailed....Kremer just split the Tea Party by her statement on the Gop Candidate....she needs to go. She does not speak for the tea party people.
Either way... millions of us will not vote for another marxist republicrat again. Quit trying to change that reality... you should be putting that energy into doing the right thing... forcing the republican party to embrace Reaganism and to cast off its servitude to socialism.
This Tea Party Express article combined with the Foxnews article about Barbour and the RNC Chair warning conservatives not to impose “purity tests” are very telling. The GOP has already chosen Romney and are trying to get everyone to take a bite of the s**t sandwich. Ain’t gonna happen.....
That is what I have been saying. He wil be the 2012 John Mc Cain. And the end results of the Romney vs. obama will be the same as the Mc Cain vs. obama were.
I think all you need to do, in order to see what a Romney presidency would be like, is go back to 2008. Where would be right now, if McCain beat Obama? Right where we are now. We would have a full-blown Amnesty for the illegals, and totally open borders, as if we don’t already. We would not have Obamacare, but we very well could have McCaincare. While it wouldn’t be the dramatic government takeover that Obamacare is, whatever smaller steps McCain took to take over healthcare would be harder to overturn. We would probably have the same over-regulation by the executive branch, particularly the EPA. We would have huge deficits. Maybe not quite as big as the Obama deficits.... but what’s the difference if you owe 14 trillion or 12 trillion?
Romney believes in government. He does not believe in you, the private citizen. In fact, the only thing Romney thinks is wrong with the Federal government at the moment is that it’s not being administred efficiently.
Delusional. Obama wins if romney's the candidate. It's over if that happens.
The end of mitt politically will be a small victory.
Well then, I guess they would fold like a thin newspaper like they have done in the past with a GOP majority...
They'll go nowhere without a strong President to lead them...Even then, it's questionable...
Thanks LoneVoice. You’re living up to your name. ;^)
I appreciate the comment.
I am working to make sure a better candidate than MITT is the nominee....but, we will see who is running US elections for sure this next year....I’m afraid it isn’t going to be pretty.
Just sent my email to the Tea Party Express:
Subject: Amy Kremer
This woman does not speak for the Tea Party Movement and the Tea Party Express bus better be prepared for protests, tomatoes and rotten eggs cause you have been identified as a shill group for the GOP establishment.
The more you post, the more I agree with you.
This is the kind of backbone that we need in Congress, but I think I’m just dreaming.
If Romney is the Republican Party nominee, I will be.
If Mittens is the nominee, I'll vote for some independently running candidate (if there's an acceptable one), but that's different than turd party. Mittens will never get my vote. Last resort if Mittens gets the nomination, I'll vote GOP (conservatives only) for every office and leave the president ballot blank.
I am sorry for the confusion over my comments, which have been now taken totally out of context.
Last election cycle, Tea Party Express took on the establishment and worked hard to send true conservatives to Washington. We challenged the Republican party time and time again because we stood on principles and did not waiver. We were not willing to accept any RINO or Obama-lite. We were no longer going to accept what the Republican party was trying to shove down our throats, even supporting Doug Hoffman in the New York special against the liberal Republican. That will not change. No tea party group has taken on the Republican establishment more than we have, and that will not change. We are totally committed to tea party principles of smaller government, less taxes, an end to deficit spending and free markets.
My point was in the interview that the “cream will rise to the top,” meaning that a true conservative will gain our support and we will work to defeat Obama. I believe in this movement and the people of this movement. I feel sure that once again, the tea party movement will work hard to send true conservatives to Washington, just like we did in 2010. I dont believe a Republican can win without the strong support for the tea party movement. So when I say that we will support the nominee, I mean that we will support the nominee because he or she has won tea party support. I didnt mean we will accept whatever is thrown our way.
In 2012, we have to defeat Barack Obama. This country will not survive another four years of his big government, socialist policies. Look at what has happened in only 2.5 years when Obama knows he has a reelection in 2012. Can you imagine another 4 years of him when there will be no reelection and has nothing to lose? He is the worst President that this country has ever had. We must remove him from the White House in 2012. We are now stuck with Kagan and Sotomayer. If Obama wins and appoints more justices, we will have no chance of turning back the march to socialism.
By the time that we have a nominee, I think the movement will have already spoken loud and clear and the nominee will have received the nomination with the support of the movement. If the nominee does not have the support of the movement, they cannot win the election. I have said that for months and months now and I firmly believe that.
Last election cycle, TPX was kicked and abused because we got involved in the primaries. We were told we needed to stay out of the primaries because it was the politically incorrect thing to do. We jumped in anyway and will be doing the same after the debate in September. We will be supporting the best constitutional conservative in the field.
The bottom line is this...you need to fight like a dog now in order to impact who the Republican nominee will be. The Tea Party Express national bus tour starts on August 20th and we have invited the candidates for president to give us their best shot on how to restore America to strength and prosperity. It culminates in the Tea Party presidential debate on September 12th in Tampa, Florida. I believe this process will start to unify the tea party around the strongest conservative candidates.
I hope that I have answered your questions and addressed your concerns If you have any other questions, please let me know. You can also call me if you would like. My number is listed below. If you would like to send me your number, I would be happy to call you as well.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Thanks again for your email. Have a great day!

The reply above is what I received when I wrote her.
I read the full article. The Tea Party is a grassroots movement.
As with any movement, there will be those who have their own agenda. A term has been repeated consistently on this thread; simply because somebody self anoints themselves as a leader does not make it so. For example, I proclaim myself king of America. Your reaction would be no, you are not. Correct?
I have been a member of Free Republic for ten years (mind you, I am not pulling the 'newbie' card)
What I have consistently observed is a practice the left uses. They are infiltrators. There are plenty examples of this behavior. I'll name a few. Infiltration of churches. The Boy Scouts. Schools. I could go on, but I believe I would crash Mr. Robinson's servers with such a list.
Heres all anyone needs to know about the fake, professional/RINO/media creation that is the Tea Party Express:.
All I need to know is that your thinly veiled purpose is to religate Sarah to a third party status. Right?
I don't see any such person on the horizon.
The GOPs emblem is an elephant.
It would be appropriate if they were to adopt the Rhino. Or RINO. Whatever.
I hope so. What we have today running the country are RINOS, and the Democrat party which is fittingly represented by a jackass.
How many states have open primaries? In caucus states who runs the caucus? Can independent voters choose or participate in caucus states? Open primaries everyone participates!
Well, THAT is a steaming pile of BS.
What do you make of this?
