California Dreaming (Rushing to Implement Obamacare)
The New Republic ^ | June 4, 2011 | Jonathan Cohn

Posted on 06/05/2011 11:49:32 AM PDT by UniqueViews

Some of the most interesting developments in health care policy these days aren't taking place in Washington. They're taking place in Sacramento and the rest of California, where public officials, private sector leaders, and activists are working to implement the Affordable Care Act.

California is not the only state moving aggressively to implement health care reform. For all of the news that opponents of the law have generated, several states have embraced it. Mostly it's more liberal states, like Maryland...

But even some more conservative states are moving forward. ... the governor in Alabama has issued an executive order to prepare an exchange...

Governor Jerry Brown is reducing Medicaid spending. But California's Medicaid already pays so little that recipients can have difficulty finding doctors willing to see them, particularly specialists. Taking so much money out of Medicaid now could mean that, come 2014, millions of Californians get insurance that, although better than nothing, offers inferior access to care.

Part of me feels good that people on Medicaid, most of whom voted for 0bama, will have even more problems getting access to health care. Serves them right.

California Dreaming (Rushing to Implement Obamacare)

My home state, born and raised. Will anything turn this insanity around?

Not crazy about the cold, but Idaho's looking better all the time. I'm with the states that protect their citizens by nullifying unconstitutional federal acts.

For many Americans, the cost of heath care turns out to be much worse than their injuries or their illness. Today’s cost of health care and medical treatment is like being financially gang raped. If ya happen to get ill, and still have have an income, and or still have equity in your home but lack top shelf health insurance, you’re done. You’ll be beat into the ground, financially gang raped, robbed at gun point and likely not survive the stress of the financial tidal wave.

That’s why responsible people BUY health insurance.

Many, if not most people without health insurance are people who could afford to buy it, but cable TV, bigger apartment, more clothes, entertainment is more important to them, then they complain if something happens to them and they can’t pay their medical bills.

People need to take responsibility for themselves. You start with health insurance, then food and shelter, THEN other things, instead of the reverse.

Um, no?

Food and shelter are FIRST on the list. Who the hell needs health insurance if you dont have anything to eat?

I figure they think that the feds are going to pay for what they have been trying to do which much to their eventual surprise will blow up in their fces with the addition of all the extras to medicaid who can’t afford insurance.I beleive most of those costs the states are supposed to cover.

Food is cheap — yes, you need shelter, but given a choice between a 3 bedroom upscale apartment or a 2 bedroom lesser one AND health insurance, you should opt for the latter.

Bottom line — how much is your life worth? That’s what health insurance is for, to save your life, because you never know what can happen. People should not rely on the government to bail them out, because they have been irresponsible.

Memo to the Republicans in the House:

Repeal Obama Care in its entirety, again, again, and again!!! Who cares if the Senate and White House won't go along - at least for now. Keep repealing it, say once a month if you have to. That's the way to keep it on the front burner until voters give you a GOP Senate and a GOP White House to finally get rid of it come January 2013.

Don't let Obamatons, like the lefty writer of this posted article, pretend that it's so far along already that it can't be touched.

You're a little slow huh?

Did ya happen to notice the tens of millions that lost their jobs, careers, businesses, had their hours cut, had their benefits reduced, were forced to go from full time to part time, or had their health care benefits completely slashed and or eliminated due to cost/economy?

But you still got yours right?

In the old days before insurances (car, home, health) became almost mandatory, people paid out of pocket for their health care.

Then came the Gov't who TOOK OVER health care for the elderly.

This has caused costs to surge as bureaucracies now control costs. I don't blame people for not buying into the scams. Why feel guilty for not buying a product that's so obviously high in cost?

People should not rely on the government to bail them out, because they have been irresponsible.

Yet they're forced to bail out government and their insider buddies on Wall Street to the tune of *trillions.*

Your Unique Views are pretty much disconnected from reality.

Food is cheap

Yep, a total complete disconnect.

I live in Maryland and my Governor O’Malley and Senate President Mike Miller would kneel down before Obama and Well!!!!!.

Maryland is a lost cause politically.
We have too many Gubmint affirmative action workers who came to PG County and Howard County, and now are sneaking into Charles County, along with the liberal riche’ from Montgomery who can afford not to have to live next to the others .Add that to the Baltimore city and County crowd and the rest of us just waste our time going to the polls.

The biggest problem for California, though, is money. Starved for revenue, thanks in no small part to anti-tax laws and a dysfunctional state legislature, it’s deeply in the red. (bold added)

Liberals all believe a few things, and at the top of their list is that tax increases (on "wealthy") will increase revenues. They all believe it, and they can all cite bogus and warped stats by rote that make their point.

Every liberal I know believes this. They are not all bad people, but they do have difficulties when it comes time to stop believing in the tooth fairy that is increased taxes on the "wealthiest among us".
