Contrary to Kamal Reilly’s claim, Nelson Mandela never used the word “apartheid” to describe the Palestinian situation.
In The Case against Israel’s Enemies, U.S. civil rights litigator Alan Dershowitz explained the source of this false attribution that is regularly circulated by anti-Israel activists to falsely tar the Jewish state, the paragon of humanness, as being racist.
Just as this quote was invented out of thin air, so too is the fabricated nonsensical slur that Israel practices apartheid.
I’ve heard contrasting things about Mandela so even if he did say it, I take it to no great meaning.
That’s how I feel about it as well.
Yet, where is he to step up and counter such libelous sensationalism and abuse of the terminology? He’s still alive to have it stricken from the record.
Also, the Leftist and Arab claim is to actually go as far as to claim it’s *worse* than Apartheid.
"Contrasting" as in what? Mandela was and is a terrorist. Mandela was and is a communist. Everything his movement has done to South Africa has been to create apartheid, actually; the same things that happen in Zimbabwe happen in South Africa today and under him and Mbeki, never mind Zuma. The media's treatment of Mandela is as big of a travesty as their treatment of Serbia during the Bosnian war (started by Germany and waged by Clinton illegally).

I disagree with your assertions. The past of Mandela is very true. He was a communist and he was a terrorist. He says so himself.
At some point in his prison sentence, he found inner peace.
His Presidency and his treatment of whites post Aparthied was very commendable. His acceptance of Dutch whites (as opposed to the liberal English whites) caught people by surprise. His famous adoption of Rugby (a predominantly Boer sport) still echoes to this day.
His minions like Zuma and Mbeki may suck but no Boer will talk bada about Mandela. I hang out with Boer colleagues who now live in the USA. They passionately hate the ANC and what South Africa has become today. But ask them about Mandela and invariably they tell you “Oi, he is a good man. But what is one good man against a bunch of lazy bums”
Mind you, these are people who have lost their homeland. If I can’t get them to speak viciously about Mandela, then odds are low that Mandela was a whitely hating terrorist when he was President.

Just to clarify, in South Africa, Rugby is dominated by the Boers. Of course, it is a world wide sport practiced on all continents and like most other organized sports, traces its roots to England

Glad someone in the so-called profession of journalism finally read the thing.

My son had to read a “pro Mandela” book by Alan Patan, “Cry the Beloved Country”
I found some articles about Mandela. And in searching for the book, found a long article by Patan’s wife, who at the time still lived in South Africa and lived in fear of the robberies, rapes, etc. (Even behind her gated and alarmed home). She was thinking of leaving. I can’t find the article, but it was a play on the book’s name, something like “Cry for my beloved Country”.
Winnie Mandela is a royal mess. She is a hater.
However, to my point, Mandela and her never reconciled. He could smell the hate in her as can any reasonable person

The man is not perfect. But to compare him to Mugabe is unfair. Mugabe always hated whites. He persecuted them from day one.
Arafat always hated Jews. Can you imagine having Arafat with Jewish friends?
Mandela, in my opinion, will be judged by history like MLK and Gandhi: flawed men who chose peace and tried to live it.
