Dominique Strauss-Kahn expected to claim 'police irregularities' over arrest

The former International Monetary Fund chief faces several charges including charges including attempted rape, sexual abuse, and unlawful imprisonment on a New York hotel maid last month.

He was arrested on May 14 as he sat in an Air France jet awaiting take for Paris after contacting the Sofitel hotel to say he had forgotten one of his mobile phones.

Police traced the call and arrested him, citing fears he might seek to flee the country.

A source close to Mr Strauss-Kahn, a former Socialist presidential hopeful, said the flight fear was unfounded.

"The conditions of Mr Strauss-Kahn's arrest pose a problem," the source told Le Journal du Dimanche.

"It appears the prosecutor glossed a little fast over the question of his personal status, and his computer and telephones."

"They had the IMF director arrested like a chicken thief. To justify it, they brought up (the risk of) flight, but the plane was booked some time ago (and changed the previous day)."

"...said the flight fear was unfounded

Wasn't he arrested on a plane getting ready to leave the country?

If he had made it back to France what are the odds he would have been sent back to stand trial?

What police irregularities, that he’s not regularly arrested by the police when he does these things?

Or is it that they made the irregular decision to keep him out of general population in protective custody so that people who are from backgrounds similar to his accuser couldn’t do to him the same things he’s accused of doing to her?

Dominique Strauss-Kahn expected to claim 'police irregularities' over arrest...

"Police irregularities"?

Let me guess - they did not comply with his request for Grey Poupon mustard with his Chateaubriand steak when he was in lockup at Rikers...

The truth will come out in trial.

He wasn’t fleeing the country, he was just stepping out for some genuine French latte.

He was coming right back.

I think that chicken thieves everywhere ought to be offended. I think chicken thieving is an honorable profession when compared to a low life wealthy self-centered arrogant rapist!

If he had made it back to France what are the odds he would have been sent back to stand trial?

Jack, and squat, and Jack's left town. What would have happened is a FRENCH 'investigation', which would have been a white-washed sham, from start to finish.

This hotel maid would have likely been required to travel to France, repeatedly, on her own dime, to testify to the prosecutor/judge (in France the prosecutor is also the judge, go figure). In the end, she would have been found 'not credible', and any physical evidence would have mysteriously disappeared. To assert otherwise, that a real investigation, of a man who at the time had a distinct possibility of becoming France's next top leader, is completely ludicrous...

To think, DSK was 10 minutes away from taking off, and being home free...
