Weiner Told Porn Star to Lie, Offered PR Help
TMZ ^ | 6/7/2011 | TMZ Staff

Posted on 06/07/2011 6:31:39 AM PDT by Qbert

Congressman Anthony Weiner instructed one of his Internet women how to lie about their relationship ... and even offered PR help from his team, which could create major legal issues for him ... TMZ has learned.

Weiner and former porn star Ginger Lee exchanged scores of sexual emails over a long period of time.  When the underwear scandal broke on May 28, Lee began receiving calls from the media, and Weiner was more than happy to help her control the situation ... by lying.

On June 2, Weiner emailed Lee, "Do you need to talk to a professional PR type person to give u advice?  I can have someone on my team call. [Yeah, my team is doing great. Ugh]."

It's unclear if Weiner's PR team is from his Congressional staff.  If so, Weiner could run afoul of House Ethics Rules as well as the law.

Weiner put on a full court press, urging Lee to lie about their relationship.  On June 1, he emailed her:  "The key is to have a short, thought out statement that tackles the top line questions and then refer people back to it.  Have a couple of iterations of: 'This is silly.  Like so many others, I follow Rep. Weiner on Twitter.  I don't know him and have never met him. He briefly followed me and sent me a dm saying thank you for the follow.  That's it.'"

Weiner suggested a nice touch -- some good ol' Southern charm: "And then maybe insert some y'alls in there."

On June 2, Weiner sent Lee a proposed statement she could give to the press:  "I have nothing to do with the situation involving Rep Weiner.  I follow his twitter feed.  And for a brief time he followed me.  Much has been made of the fact that I have posted about my admiration for Rep Weiner and his politics.  All I can say about that is that I'm a fan of his.  Rep. Weiner sent me one short direct message thanking me for following him.  I have never met Rep. Weiner and he has never sent me anything innappopriate (sic) ..."

Weiner then asked Lee directly, "How's it [the proposed statement] feel?"

Which Dem will be the first to call on his resignation ? He’s already too much of a distraction to them.

I’m still thinking he is not going to resign.

The Ethics committee will probably make him reimburse the cost of the telephone calls he made from his office on the taxpayers dime, and then slap him on the wrist.

You just know this d-bag thought he would waltz right through the knee pad media and get a pass...and I'm sure they would have let him get away with it, but Breitbart wasn't going to let it go.

Finally, there was just too much blood in the ater water, and the journo-lists couldn't ignore it anymore without looking like they were not just complicit, but also incompetent.

What “team”?

Legislators at ALL levels should be able to function perfectly well with one or two secretaries or personal assistants.

That a no-talent, perverted earwig like Weiner has a “team” at his disposal is a taxpayer abomination.

Absolutely. A long, slow Weiner exit will be the ideal thing.

Amazing how stupid this guy is. He honestly has the maturity of a 17 year old boy.
And that is with apologies to all mature 17 year old boys.

Maybe his wife's boss will offer to help, she knows how to deal with these things? Maybe they will go to Fort Marcy Park to talk?

This should nail it for him.

This situation is outrageous- that he did this in the first place shows he’s got serious personal demons he needs to come to terms with- but more disturbing to me is the way he was able to lie with such comfort, it came easily as though it’s second nature. He stumbled a couple of times in various interviews- but it didn’t seem it was from his discomfort with lying- more like trying to keep up with the tale he was weaving.

I really don’t see how he can stay...

To me, the fact that at one time he suggested that his Twitter account being “hacked” could be the “tip of the spear of a terrorist attack”, should be enough to have him arrested. I mean think about it. A United States congressman suggesting that he, a member of the house of representatives, might be under a cyber terrorist attack, simply to cover his embarrassing sexual escapades. The implications of him doing that are mind boggling.

I might be wrong but I think this scandal seriously undermines Congressman Weiner as a Democrat “attack dog”. I can't imagine anyone taking him seriously when he attempts his next anti-conservative rant. Therefore, unless actual criminality comes to light I say, “Let him stay on.” Of course, these are precisely the reasons that the Democrats will bite the bullet & force him out. Let's face it, unless your name is "Kennedy" or "Clinton" you're not getting a pass on this.

How strange that Weiners words in his speech mirrored Pelosis statement yesterday. They have circled the wagons. Funny thing is that more of what he has done will be leaking out and we’ll see just how long Pelosi will stand by the perv when she feels politically threatened by her defense of this slimeball. He’s tainted goods and po;itical power speaks louder than friendship.

The House Ethics panel should consider that Weiner is now prone to blackmail. There's now "adverse information" against Weiner that has not been made public. Breitbart claims he still has a tide of scum, including a "beyond beyond lewd" pic of the Rep., which theoretically could be used to influence Weiner's vote.

I don't think Weiner's constituents would care to be represented by the whims of our hero, Andrew Breitbart.

Very good post. Imagine being the @sshole who had to sit and watch Weiner's press conference yesterday after uttering this memorable line less than a week ago:

"I don’t know the details, but I know him [Weiner] to be a person of integrity and I am virtually certain he had nothing to do with this." -- U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), 5/31/11

That's really interesting, Chuck, in light of this admission just yesterday:

"Last Friday night, I tweeted a photograph of myself that I intended to send as a direct message as part of a joke to a woman in Seattle. Once I realized I had posted it to Twitter, I panicked, I took it down, and said that I had been hacked. I then continued with that story to stick to that story, which was a hugely regrettable mistake. This woman was unwittingly dragged into this and bears absolutely no responsibility. I am so sorry to have disrupted her life in this way. To be clear, the picture was of me, and I sent it." -- Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY), 6/6/11

ROFL. It's a good thing Chuck Schumer is used to sticking his foot in his mouth.

That's exactly what Andrew Breitbart said in a radio interview he gave yesterday on WOR in New York, shortly after the Weiner press conference. He said Weiner's career is basically over, since he was primarily seen by Democrats as a "media attack dog" who would go on various news shows and give the partisan line of B.S. on any given issue.

Now, according to Breitbart, Weiner can't even show up anywhere in public without having people laugh in his face.

It’s just remarkable isn’t it? We’re watching our culture being systematically numbed to crap we should never even know about, number one, and number two, watching grown adults somehow try to make it ok for him to remain in Congress.

I don’t want to know it- but if we’re going to know it- then these guys have simply got to go. Look what Boehner did with our guy last week- pics just of his chest and told him to pack his bags and go home. Boom- done. As it should be.

Actually, I think what you're seeing here is "American culture" exposed as the mediocrity it always was. If our nation's leaders had internet access, cell phone cameras and Twitter accounts 50 years ago, I wonder if things would really have been all that much different than they are today.

I actually take some comfort in this. People like Chuck Schumer and Anthony Weiner spend their careers in politics because they're unemployable in any industry where honesty, integrity and the real American spirit are critical for success.
