Appears our Cadet will be getting the second look I feel he deserves. Good on West Point! Good on Houston Police Department! Hope his head is on the mend. He's a keeper that Cadet of ours.

Good...sue her for every dime she has. This whole case stinks to high heaven. Not only did the police officers who responded to the incident pose for photos with LaBelle (so much for impartiality), but it seems they assumed that LaBelle’s employees had the right to beat this man simply because they call themselves “bodyguards”. Is there some sort of license for that line of work?

Call me cynical but I think West Point received a lot of bad press about making a quick decision before looking at the facts. I will applaud their willingness to hopefully investigate it further. As for the PD, the article sort of said that they “may” investigate improper police behavior with respect to having their photos taken with the diva. I hope they also pull the report to see if any falsities were included. I, too, hope the cadet has no permanent damage as a result of this beating.

I would bet the cadet is white and the officers posing with Patty were black.

I just believe fair is fair. When I saw this, I knew it was time for the Marines to land. This Marine’s mama wasn't going to let this go without a much closer look. You know what they say, “Army keeping the world safe. The Marines keep the Army safe, “ or some such. I always get my metaphors and jokes mixed up. It's part of my charm. ;-)

Criminal charges? Ya think?

Duh - those thugs should have been arrested that DAY. Along with Queen LaBelle.

No reprimand for the “officers” who are shown on tape getting pictures with the celebrity who may have ordered the attack (according to earlier reports)?

But the “second look” at the event came about because of what was pretty clear on the video tape. Guy talking on cell phone gets thrown onto cement pillar hard. Officers show up and celebrity does photo shoot.

Yeah, I have seen this in California already. Didn’t expect to see it in Texas.

As a retired military officer (not a graduate of USMA), I also commend the academy for taking another look at this matter. But I’m also disappointed that it took a spate of negative press articles to make it happen. Based on what I’ve read, it looks like the young man was beaten savagely by LaBelle’s “bodyguards,” then railroaded by West Point. He needs to collect a few million from LaBelle and her gang of thugs; a few million more from the Houston PD, and then demand reinstatement at USMA. The cadet is the real victim in this sorry mess.

Yes, it’s only fair, but given Labelle’s outlook she’s due for a correction.

If true he should file a civil rights violation too. Looks like a hate crime to me.

You’d be wrong. Check the tape. Officers were white & looked to be sergeant/supervisors judging from the stripes.
