Is this one near New Madrid? As a kid, I grew up in the western part of KY—about 150 miles straight line from it. We had tremors all the time. Very common.

I think that’s a fair distance from the New Madrid zone.

This one gently rattled the debris on my nightstand. Still, there was no mistaking that it HAD to be a quake, even in the middle of the night.

(SW St. Louis county).

So this is how death will begin when the New Madrid Fault finally cracks wide open?

The New Madrid zone is down around the MO Bootheel. This is a fair distance away from there:

Not sure if it is part of New Madrid fault.

But, that area is very rural — small towns 20 miles apart, etc.

Aw, you had one of them cute little baby quakes. How sweet.
This is a typical day around Japan. I miss the 6.0+ quakes because we usually
don’t even feel these little ones.

And the water level in the Mississippi and the Missouri are what, at this time? I wonder.

I remember reading stories of the worst “New Madrid” quake in modern memory; about how the ‘drop’ in the quake zone at the time was so much that the Mississippi flowed north for awhile. Or maybe that was a fictional account?
