On the day a poll showed Barack Obama owning the failing economic recovery, a CBS News Washington Bureau reporter questioned Michelle Obama's judgment in wearing a $7,000 gown at tonight's state dinner for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, noting that other guests "dressed more modestly."
Writing on Twitter, CBS News reporter Christine Delargy said:

I agree that she can spend her own funds on whatever she wishes, but the Obama’s are constantly tone deaf — expensive vacations, clothes, ice cream cones, golf games, etc. no matter what horrific news event is occurring.
What it means is that the bloom is off the rose. And that media will now begin to push the most democratic republican they can find to defeat Obama, for they have found that their god is actually a man.

If she spent her own money, then it’s no ones business but hers what she pays for a dress. I personally think it’s incredibly stupid to shell out $7,000 for a gown, but to each his own I guess. However, if this came out of some expense account funded with tax dollars then it’s a ridiculous waste of money.

If the Obama’s buy their own clothes with their own money, I could care less what they cost. I just wish they felt the same way about me and my money.
it has been her way since entering the WH. In England recently the new princess wore a $2-300 dress, while Michelle wore one worth several thousand.
