Alec Baldwin to run for NYC mayor in Weinergate aftermath? Laura Donovan - The Daily Caller 36 mins ago

“30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin, a new contributor to the Twitterverse, is reportedly considering a run for mayor of New York City now that Congressman Anthony Weiner has a tarnished political image.

The “It’s Complicated” funnyman, who said earlier this year that he’s “very, very interested” in seeking office, says Weiner’s Twitter scandal might enhance his own chance at getting elected for the mayor position.

“Alec said, ‘Hey, maybe this changes the race. The dynamics have shifted,’” Baldwin’s buddy told The Daily. “The Democrats need a high-profile candidate, and Alec can fill that bill.”

Baldwin, a staunch Democrat from Long Island, has been a Huffington Post blogger for more than five years and contributed a voice-over for one of PETA’s “Meet Your Meat” public service announcements.

In 2006, Baldwin told the New York Times, “If I ever ran for anything, the thing I would like to be is governor of New York.”

When asked if he was qualified for office, Baldwin explained to the Times, “That’s what I hate about Schwarzenegger. His only credentials are that he ran a fitness program under some bygone president … I’m Tocqueville compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger.”

Apparently, the citizens of New York have a perverse wish to slide further into the sewer.

He meant, of course, that he is the “Marquis De Sade”. Just ask his former wife.

Alex is qualified only if the job requires a big mouth, the ability to verbally abuse, and a bad temper.

Yeah...New York...go ahead, elect Baldwin. You thought weiner was a petulent, ill-tempered little twerp...just add Baldwin's ego to the mix, and his total disrespect for anyone but himself...and the democrats will have an weiner, er, "winner" in their mob.

Yep! The others I wouldn’t enjoy. Baldwin’s an exception. The man needs a reminder every time he looks into the mirror that someone considered him so effing stupid, they thought it might make the world a better place by beating some sense into him.

Of course you and I know that wouldn’t work. It would be fun trying though.

Yes, yes it seems so.

He's a funny actor but I don't think I'm alone when I say I saw that coming when he hooked up with 30 Rock. Not just clean up his image (after the leaked phone messages to his daughter) but test the waters. I do think he thought, hey, if Franken can do it... (I know, Senate vs Mayor - but that's potato-potahto...)

Just askin...

God Bless Henry Hyde, RIP.

Maybe not ‘legal’, just not frowned upon, wink-wink. He hasn’t had time to rant like Franken - yet (since his redo). But he will.

Wonder if he knows that Franken won via voter fraud and, IMO, is illegitimate.
