Skip to comments.CNN: 48% believe a Great Depression is coming within a year

Alternate headline: Great Depression worries go mainstream. I guess we can count Barack Obama among the 51% who aren’t worried about it, since he’s not even worrying about a double-dip recession. CNN’s latest poll shows an almost even split between Americans who expect a big collapse within a year, and, er, Americans who aren’t quite as worried about it:
President Barack Obama’s overall approval rating has dropped below 50 percent as a growing number of Americans worry that the U.S. is likely to slip into another Great Depression within the next 12 months, according to a new national poll.
The three-point difference makes this a dead heat within the margin of error. Moreover, this is the most pessimistic survey result we’ve seen on the subject. In 2008, only 38% expected another Great Depression, which rose to 41% in 2009 shortly after Obama took office. In the two years of the Obamanomics recovery, it’s jumped seven points — which shows just how effective people believe Obamanomics to be.
His Osama bin Laden bounce has dissipated, CNN’s analysis concludes, especially among Republicans. Two weeks ago, 27% of Republicans approved of his performance, but that’s been cut almost in half to 14%. Independents have also started peeling away, with a five point drop in the same period from 47% to 42%. His overall approval rating dropped from 54/48 — apparently a math-challenged result in May from CNN that adds up to 102%, so I’m guessing that’s a typo for 54/46 — to 48/48 today.
CNN doesn’t break down approval ratings on the issues for Obama in this release (nor its sample breakdown, for that matter), but they did poll on which issues matter most to those voting for President in 2012. The ratings for “extremely important” show 51% selecting that option for the economy, followed by a tie at 45% between unemployment and health care. If 51% of people think that the economy is extremely important for their vote and 48% think we’re going to enter a Great Depression before they have a chance to cast it, that’s not exactly going to bode well for Obama’s re-election chances.
Maybe he needs to worry a little more about the economic backslide, or at least acknowledge it.
It’s already here folks. Don’t expect a memo from the White House.
don’t worry about qe2, or even qe3...watch for the contraction of the cash supply...depending upon the speed at which the cash supply is squeezed, we will either level out, and begin to climb back out, or do as hoover/roosevelt did, choke it off...if it is choked off, even gold and silver will be worthless...cash will be king...
Change you can believe in....
We have been in a depression and I have said it for some time. It amazes me that people actually believe the government and their lying figures. They never tell the truth about anything, yet people accept their data as if it were gospel.
“48% believe a Great Depression is coming within a year”
.....and Obuggery will get the blame.
James Carville predicted it. The Barackolypse will happen when the welfare class stops getting free meals.
Yep! When the Fed is the largest buyer of government paper and the U6 unemployment rate is at Depression levels with no end in sight. Wars and rumors of wars. I’d say we’re pretty much living it.
And the Feds will be sending their SWAT teams to collect their taxes and anything else you may owe them.
Make no mistake, when it comes to economic prosperity, people’s beliefs can become self-fulfilling prophecies.
We can lay this squarely at the feet of President Obama whose economic leadership has consisted in bashing businessmen as a group, threatening more regulations on businesses, threatening tax increases on investors and sucking money out of the private-sector economy.
His policies are an adventure in failure. His refusal to acknowledge reality is extraordinary. His understanding of basic economics could be lost in a miniature thimble. He is, deservedly, the face of the Democrat Party.
It’s already here.

Melancholy, I promise I will ping you no more! (today)
Depression ties in with urban mayhem.
In a year? How about this summer!
If you havent already its time to prepare. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.
I think that we are at the very least in for a collapse much like that of Argentinas ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yerKMQc7-w&feature=grec_index), but as a armed society with a very large entitlement minded population our collapse will be much more violent and I see many many small business wiped out by flash mob looting, and large scale violence (look at what happened just this past Memorial Day weekend)and then there is this is going on in Chicago:Emanuel said he spoke with McCarthy over the weekend and again this morning about the situation. The mayor said the citys reputation as a safe place to work and shop downtown is being endangered by the thuggery. Many of the attacks are happening near the biggest tourist and shopping attractions in the city.
But, CBS 2s Jim Williams reports, the problem of mob attacks downtown is much bigger than the weekend beatings, according to beat cops who wanted to remain anonymous.
I see what I call Pocket Pogroms taking place in many big Blue cities and if you arent a “0ba_mites yute its going to get Reginald Denny bad for you very quickly.
For those who havent prepared and would like to start or for those that have and are just interested you may download my Preparedness Manual at:
As the LDS say When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.
Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3
So....I asked him, "What are you doing that you are so much better of than you were 3 years ago?"
Talk about pissing on a rattlesnake!
During his rant I kept saying, "Civility, civility."
GOP jst shut up and let Team Obama go down in flames.
Exceptional. I may have to use that.
The Patient Affordable Vampire-Care will see to it. The big re-distribution plan all along. Hard fascio-communism.
Brother can you spare a dime.
