U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested three Romanians Saturday after they waded across the Rio Grande into the United States, according to court records.
The apparently undocumented immigrants were charged with illegal entry to the United States.
The federal court record regarding the arrest of Elena Ploesteanca Lapadat, Rica Dunca and Florin Rica Dunca does not give the location of their arrest.
The three pleaded not guilty Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald G. Morgan, according to the court record. Counsel has been appointed for them.
A Romanian interpreter, Maria Stefan, interpreted for the three defendants telephonically.
The three are being held without bail, and their trials are set for July 7 before Morgan.
Ok, I should not watch a Star Trek movie then read FR. I actually thought the headline said “Three Romulans charged with illegal entry”.
Good grief, gert.
After all, Texas shares borders with so many countries... Mexico, the USA, Romania, Iran, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, East Timor, and Mongolia. It's not surprising people sometimes wander across the poorly marked boundaries.
We are reaping what our government has sown. Everyone in the whole flipping world thinks they can go to Mexico, wade across the river, and be home free in our country. Then: start the benefits. We need to start shooting at the border.
Hey! Ploesteanca Lapadat are my middle names! Wonder if we’re related?
In other gnus, Spell czech did knot ketch “ Ploesteanca!”
As opposed to the catch and release for Mexican illegals?
They are probably white.
“As opposed to the catch and release for Mexican illegals?”
Don’t you love it?
Catch and release is what you do with trout not what you do with snakeheads.
Long way from the Beta Quadrant to South Texas;^)
