Herman Cain: Homosexuality is a sin and a choice (Will this statement help or hurt his chances?)
CBS News ^ | 06/09/2011 | Brian Montopoli

Posted on 06/09/2011 1:19:09 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain told Hotsheet Wednesday that homosexuality is a sin and a choice.

"I believe homosexuality is a sin because I'm a Bible-believing Christian, I believe it's a sin," he said. "But I know that some people make that choice. That's their choice."

Cain was asked: "So you believe it's a choice?"

"I believe it is a choice," he responded.

Will it hurt him? No, most Americans believe as he does. But, I’m a Ronald Reagan-style Conservative and I’ve counseled many homosexuals who say: “I can remember having same sex attractions in Elementary School”. What do you say to that?

“As a behaviour, sex is a choice. At any time I could choose to have sex with a goat, the living room sofa, a tuna fish sandwich or an Edsel.”

Interesting. At what age did you “choose” to be straight? To have sexual relations with the opposite sex only? If you are straight, can you “choose” to be gay tomorrow for a day, have homosexual relations and then “choose” to switch back the following day?

I agree that this statement will not hurt him in the primary, and I still back him 100% but it WILL come back to haunt him if he wins the nomination.

I don’t think it will have an effect now, but the MSM will use it against him if/when he becomes a threat down the road.

The idea of choosing sexual orientation is absurd.

I’d like Mr. Cain to tell us about the day he chose his sexual orientation. That’s a big decision. I’m sure he remembers. Tell us about it. How did he decide? What precipitated the decision?

What you say is the “act” is a choice, regardless of the proclivity. I can only assume that the “urge” for same sex is the same “urge” as it is for those who happen to like 8 year olds — but no one is out saying that’s ok because it’s nature.

Any act is by definition a choice. The urge is irrelevant.

Liberals, ascribing to the belief that we’re nothing but thinking animals,

doesn’t believe we can, OR SHOULD, control our sexual impulses.

Therefore, they don’t believe that we have a choice but to follow those impulses.

Perhaps you aren’t acquainted with the difference in an act and an urge. There is no law that says anyone must act on all their urges. At least, unless you are a liberal.

He’s a Republican. Most gays and liberals wouldn’t vote for him on that basis alone.

“...and I’ve counseled many homosexuals who say: “I can remember having same sex attractions in Elementary School”. What do you say to that?”

You could ask yourself silently whether it was revisionist from a now-sexualized perspective. I would wonder if these attractions were actually sexual ones at that age. There is at least one condition that has homosexual attractions as one of its (many) symptoms - Candida albicans overgrowth, usually associated with excess consumption of refined sugar in their, or their parents’ diet, and often combined with over-reliance on antibiotics.

As others said above, I don’t think this will hurt Herman Cain’s chances among those already considering him. With them, if anything, it would strengthen support for him. It might hurt him in the general election with independent voters, but not among those that are in the Black or Hispanic communities, since that part of the electorate in California was happy to support marriage as marriage, rather than its homosexual reinterpretation, even if at the same time they voted in the current White House resident.

The next conservative President should always stand by that statement. Always stand by the truth.

Sodomy was illegal in America before 1962. That means people under 50 don’t really remember a time when sodomy was not celebrated and forced on people by the sodomite lobby and the government and media they control.

Sodomy laws need to be brought back. Acknowledging that sodomy is wrong is where to start.

Sound crazy ? Visit the sodomite street fair in SF. Decide if that’s the world you want your children to grow up in. Or think about the evil lunacy of sodomite adoption of children that were take from their families by the government with no TRIAL BY JURY.

Read about the American Law Institute and the Model Penal Code of 1962.

This is part of the beginning of taking America back from those who seek to DESTROY IT AND EVERYTHING IT STANDS FOR. Private Property. The Rule of Law. Personal Responsibility and Individual Liberty.

Think about how wonderful it would have been to live in America prior to 1800 - in terms of personal liberty.

We can get back to that liberty. We must. And we will.

Not ready for prime time Cain. Hey, how about talking up gun control again? You’re on a roll.

Well, if you get drunk enough, you're ability to choose becomes impaired and there's no telling where you're going to put your junk. Hell, you might even hit THIS if you've had enough to drink.

muhahahahahahahahahahaha

It’ll probably pull a handful of votes from Santorum’s three handfuls of votes, but I’d guess it also immediately puts an upper ceiling on Cain’s rise.

How should a GOP candidate who IS ready for Prime Time respond when asked about his views on Homosexuality (in the same manner they asked Herman Cain )?

“I’ve counseled many homosexuals who say: “I can remember having same sex attractions in Elementary School”. What do you say to that?”

You could say that you had the urge to steal stuff from other kids when you were in elementary school — but you made a choice to NOT steal because it’s wrong to steal.

You could say that pedophiles have an urge to do what pedophiles do, and have been attracted to children since they were teenagers. Is that OK, too, just because there’s an attraction?

Why are homosexual special, in that their urges condoned, and even encouraged? We all are tempted to do immoral things, but we control ourselves. Why can’t they?
