Sarah Palin loses ground within GOP: Is 2012 campaign doomed?
Yahoo! News ^ | Thu Jun 9, 11:00 am ET

DES MOINES—Sarah Palin says George Washington is her favorite founder because he was reluctant to serve but answered the call of duty. She likes to think of herself this way, answering the needs of a clamoring electorate. That is part of the cinematic beauty of her bus tour: The crowds that greet her can represent that call to take up their standard and head into presidential battle on their behalf.

There's only one problem: The call isn't coming. That's the clear message in a new CBS News poll of the Republican field. Taken after the Palin bus tour started rolling, it asked Republicans whether Palin should run. By a 20-point margin (54 percent to 34 percent), Republicans said she should not run. Among Tea Party supporters, where Palin has her strongest following, she is also waved off against a run. Half say she should not run; 38 percent say she should. That isn't so much a referendum on her bus tour as it is a sign that the entire months-long Palin flirtation with the presidency is not creating an appetite.

The biggest challenge to a Palin candidacy has always been that her image within her own party has been getting worse. (If she can't improve among her friends, she isn't going to improve in the wider circle of voters). Some 36 percent of Republican voters have an unfavorable view of her, compared with the 37 percent that have a favorable view. Her favorability rating has declined since April.

Oh, well, this is at least the 137th time she’s been doomed in the media, but for some reason they’re still writing about her.

One way to slant a poll is to simply raise a question. Half the people figure the question must be legitimate or they wouldn’t be asking. Such is the case with asking whether Palin should run or if they would in any circumstances ever vote for her, etc.. The assumption left to the respondent in this situation is always that there’s an issue about her.

Do that 20 times over with each result widely reported in the news and popular opinion is widely swayed. Not that she can’t sway it back again, but the media have had an effect.

Wha??????????

This doesn’t even make sense. I know that interview about George Washington (it was with Glenn Beck). She admired him for going back to Mt. Vernon after his service and becoming a private citizen. Very worthy and one of the reasons Washington is my personal favorite. Lies and distortion are NOT going to work.

Well, this certainly explains why the media has stopped following her every move and started hounding Romney.

Guess we can even expect Katie to return to the nightly news gig too.

The No-leg media, aka totally lame, strikes again.

AT the same time the Washington Post and New York Times are openly beginning a dirt digging expedition against Sarah and her children because she hasn't got a chance ~ sure, right.

Those guys at CBS and Yahoo really gotta' coordinate their stuff with the rest of the DNC mouthpieces first ~ otherwise we will catch on to their lies entirely too quickly!~

The calls for Sarah are starting to ROLL, from the silent majority, US real American born citizens.

It’s the islamic and communist media that won’t show her OR US.

According to CBS Sarah Palin has no shot at the presidency and, gosh, even Republicans don't want her, but the leftmedia can't stop talking about her because she's so irrelevant. Who do they think they're kidding with this BS? Sarah Palin is a political force and because she actually different (middle class, Christian conservative with lots of charisma and not a 'me-too' Democrat-Lite like Romney) the left don't know how to stop her. So, in desperation, they try these fake polls, hoping to convince Republicans that even though you may like her, she is bad news and can't ever be elected president so don't even think about it! No sale, CBS.

Let’s imagine for a moment that I foolishly supported one of the lesser lights. If a pollster asked me whether I wanted Sarah Palin, a candidate who could win the nomination, to enter the race, I would say absolutely not! It doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t vote for her after she crushed my own candidate, by why would I want to encourage her to enter in the first place? Bob
