Hey Democrats: Why Does Weiner Have To Go, but Bill Clinton Didn’t?

Well, well.

So I’ve been looking around on the Intertubes to see all the denunciations of Anthony Weiner’s prevarications by members of his own party. And there are a lot of them.

Tim Caine, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, declares that he should resign:

Lying is unforgivable … Lying publicly about something like this is unforgivable and he should resign.

Allyson Schwartz, head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, has a similar opinion:

Having the respect of your constituents is fundamental for a member of Congress. In light of Anthony Weiner’s offensive behavior online, he should resign.

Democrat representatives and Weiner colleagues Nikki Tsongas and Joe Donnelly also think he should step down. Over on the north side of the Hill, Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy is of a similar view.

Weiner has been trying to reach out, even calling Bill Clinton, who officiated at his wedding (less than a year ago) to his (now-pregnant) wife.

Am I the only person who thinks all of this a little bizarre?

Can someone explain to me what Anthony Weiner did that was so much worse than what Bill Clinton did that he is being asked by his fellow Democrats to resign?

For those unfamiliar with the history, let us review the two men’s transgressions, in context.

Don’t trouble yer little heads, Dems. Tony isn’t going anyplace. According to him, he’s not resigning, a few Dems have cleared their names by making the ritual “totally shocked” gestures, and this will all be forgotten by this time next week.

Even more to the point, why isn’t there any interest in Barney Frank’s procuring jobs in areas over which he writes regulations for past boyfriends? That is of far more concern than Weiner’s weenie. Could part of it be that the weenie roast is valuable as it takes the public’s mind off the economy and jobs failures of the Democrats and their guy in the White House.

It’s not just Bubba Clinton. Look at Ted Kennedy. He left a woman to die in his car while he sobered up. That’s manslaughter. Barney Frank allowed a male whore run a prostitution ring out of his Congressional office and contributed significantly to the 2009 economic collapse. The list goes on and on.

Anthony Weiner sent dirty pictures to women over the Internet. That’s not even a crime!

I don’t get it. Hard core perverts and criminals pointing fingers at an arrogant a$$ and suggesting that he should resign. What a joke!

The factory bombing in Sudan killed an innocent night watchman, but accomplished little else.

The media never considered it odd, that Clinton and Cohen were "sorry that someone was killed" after launching a missile.

Somehow I think the Clintons are the ones that are pushing Weiner out the door. That is the only reason I can think of that Democrats would be feigning upset about a sex scandal. Weiner stepped on Clinton toes in this, I think.

Of course the difference is that Clinton was quite powerful as POTUS and the Dems certainly didn’t want to have doofus Algore in the job.

My take is they know Weenie ain’t gonna quit, so they know it’s safe to take a shot at him, look pious, and by 2012 support him for re-election at which time the MSM will have cleansed his sins (ref: Elliot Spitzer).

If he resigns, the answer is easy. We have much more new media now than we did then. The MSM could control the story to a much greater degree back then. It is that simple.

Dems get caught taking bjs in the Oval Office and showing their Weiners on Twitter, but "stand firm" and refuse to resign, to the cheers and admiration of the party faithful.

Meanwhile, Republicans quit on a dime for sending mildly suggestive emails to congressional interns or tapping their feet in a bathroom stall.

Again, the GOP is the Chicago Cubs/Minnesota Vikings of politics.

Why Does Weiner Have To Go, but Bill Clinton Didn’t?

Because Weiner was the 100th RAT to get caught in a sex scandal, and they can't have it looking like every one of them is a dirtbag pervert.

I never met Bill Clinton. I've met many people who have. They describe him as "almost impossible not to like."

Bill has it. Wiener doesn't.
