Teen girl killed, four wounded on Brooklyn's Brighton Beach boardwalk as gunman fires on crowd

A 16-year-old girl was killed and four people were wounded by gunfire Thursday after two groups clashed on a crowded Brooklyn boardwalk, cops and witnesses said.

Two of the victims were bystanders, sources said.

One man used an umbrella to crack another man in the head as the fight erupted on the Brighton Beach Boardwalk near Brighton Sixth St. about 5:20 p.m. Suddenly, a gunman squeezed off about eight rounds, first shooting in the air before aiming at the brawling crowd, cops and witnesses said.

Onlookers scurried into nearby stores and restaurants, huddling in fear as the bullets flew near the oceanfront, witnesses said.

"It was chaotic," said a 48-year-old Queens woman who was visiting Brighton Beach. "We looked at the boardwalk and everyone was running north. It was hectic. It was panic."

The teen - identified by friends as Tysha Jones, a Landmark High School student - was shot under the left armpit, cops said.

She later died at Coney Island Hospital, where a 23-year-old man was clinging to life with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Tykwan Beckett, 23, and two other men - ages 25 and 26 - were taken to Lutheran Hospital. All were expected to survive.

The two injured bystanders - one hit inside Tatiana Restaurant - were among those in stable condition, sources said.

"I hope that somebody comes forward," said Beckett's sister, Ebony, 27. "If they don't stop him, [the shooter is] going to keep going."

Beckett - a father of 2-year-old twins, a boy and a girl - was hit in his ankle and elbow during the wild shooting.

A 21-year-old Bronx woman who is eight months pregnant said she was 30 feet from the gunfire and feared for her life.

"I got nervous," said the woman, who declined to give her name

"At the moment, you don't know where he was going to shoot," she added. "I left my sandals. I left everything. I could have fell on my stomach - I could have gotten shot."

One stray bullet pierced through the window of an elderly woman's apartment as she sat in front of her TV, witnesses said.

The bullet whizzed through the sixth-floor apartment of Marion Smith, 84, but didn't hit her, said a security guard at the building.

Dozens of cops from Brooklyn and Staten Island swarmed the area. Investigators believe the violence erupted between two rival gangs, cops said.

As the sun faded following a thunderstorm, police were walking shoulder to shoulder on the boardwalk, shining flashlights into the crevices of the pieces of lumber, looking for shell casings.

South Beach, Myrtle Beach, Brighton Beach, Boston, Charlotte, even one dead in Snooki’s Seaside Heights- the multiple “flash mobs” of youths descending on helpless merchants, multiple mobs in Rahm’s Chicago-
it’s Katrina gone national everyday, it’s Obama’s redistribution of wealth

Welcome to Obama’s “transformed” America.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Tykwan Beckett’s middle name is “Doe.”

If the preponderance of the beach walkers in the area have diversity, I am leaving. Its just not safe with the prevailing attitude and actions of the diverse crowd and the slow response and inability of the police to protect the public because of PC restraints.

I know I’m stepping out on a limb here but I’m going to call this the way I see it before reading the story. Mormons vs. Amish. Clear as day!

Brings to mind that ole game called "Cowboys and Amish" that we played as kids. (Or did it have another similar name???) Maybe we need to bring it back.:)

Tysha” & “Tykwan”...doesn’t sound like Russian mafiya...its gonna be another long hot summer...”

If Tysha and Tykwan are good names, how about your tagline for names?

Hey, Cogito, wanna walk down to the ice cream stand with Ergo and meet up with Conservitus? Almost sounds like a line from “Spartacus.”

Welcome to Obama’s “transformed” America.

Ad hoc looting, like the government does only without the bureaucracy and the paperwork. Really it's kind of a streamlined redistribution of wealth. Not sure the unions are going to like these young entrepreneurs.

I'm just surprised it took the criminals this long to figure out how to do it.

The 70s if it were run by a mincing megalomaniac. That’s why I call him Michael, the mincing Mayor of megalomania. NYC has absolutely no money, 20 firehouses being closed, cops being reduced by 30%, teachers laid off, even the Bronx zoo is in danger of being closed as they are being cut by 50%. But does that stop the Mincing Mayors hobby of exterior decorating? Hell no! 100s of millions must be spent putting pretty flowers and plants near the 59th street bridge. Artists must be hired to put pretty sculptures and designs near the entrance, patio furniture and giant flower pots must be placed all over the city. You know what gets me, is last week we had a US Marine killed while trying to cross the West side highway. Why was he killed? Because our fggot Mayor decided that the West side highway needed designer trees planted in the middle which block the view of oncoming traffic, and that is why this Marine couldn’t see the car coming. Good going Michael, our mincing mayor of megalomania. Your little fggot hobby has now cost someone their life, and a Marines life no less. I CANNOT wait for this RINO POS to go!

I wonder if the two groups ‘clashed’ because someone was smoking a cigarette which is now banned on NYC beaches.

Check out the condition the disgusting DFDs left the beach and boardwalk: http://www.ny1.com/content/top_stories/140706/one-dead—four-wounded-in-brooklyn-boardwalk-shooting

I'm surprised there were no mounted patrols in the vicinity. I hail from a nearby beach and horse cops were a constant and intimidating fixture on days large crowds were expected.

LOL! Exactly..”Gee, where are all the laptops, ipod, ipads, and other stuff like that at?” He’s a freakin’ lunatic this guy. I gotta take pictures of the 59th street bridge, people wouldn’t believe what he’s doing to this bridge. He has them taking the smashed up cement from the old barriers and making these weird jagged sculptures out of them, then these “people paths” in the middle of traffic with designer trees and bushes along side them. Why is he doing this? Like all ‘rats - Because his “legacy” is all that matters. Let people burn to death, let disarmed people get mugged left and right, at least they will die in wonderful fabulous Disneywonderland.
