Pence begins campaign with promise to fight health care reform, climate change legislation

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Mike Pence is coming back to Indiana to fight Washington, D.C.

Pence launched his campaign for governor Saturday with a promise to fight health care reform and federal climate change legislation.

Pence also said in prepared remarks that he is running to build on many of the changes set by term-limited Gov. Mitch Daniels.

Pence is vacating his congressional seat to run for governor.

While he has yet to outline any specific proposals, Pence sounded a lot in his campaign kickoff like he has for the last ten years in Washington.

Pence is expected to face Fishers businessman Jim Wallace in the Republican primary next May.

I believe Mike Pence is Presidential timber! Couple terms as Gov. and he should make the plunge.

I hope there’s someone good to take over his seat. I like Mike Pence a lot & we really need folks like him in Congress right now.

Luke Messner will likely be Pence’s replacement in the House. The House seat is in a very conservative district so the dums won’t win it. Messner is not as conservative as Pence but still pretty good.

Hoosiers are cautious people, often criticizing federal spending but quietly waiting for their check in the mail.

Has Rep. Mike Pence endorsed anybody to replace him, in the House of Representatives seat?

“Hoosiers are cautious people, often criticizing federal spending but quietly waiting for their check in the mail.”

I have no problem with people expecting to get a check in the mail as long as everyone else is getting the check. I think its wrong headed to refuse your share of the loot over objections to the practice of looting.

By refusing your share your just making the amoral and destructive act all the more beneficial to the men who support it while leasing the need to remove this evil.

By all means Milk the welfare State of every penny you can, make sure the leftist monkeys get as small a share of the fruits of their thief(via goverment) as possible, while feeling as much of the pain as possible.

If you cannot stop the criminals directly you must make them understand why their criminal activity is undesirable and ultimately self-defeating.

I’d rather Travis Hankins win the seat. He’s a real conservative. J.S.

He would get my vote. At age of only 52 perhaps he would run in 2016 if we are saddled with Obozo for four more (if the USA is still here).

I doubt whether I would call this a very conservative district. There are plenty of imports brought in by the local corporations that are certainly not conservative. And there are plenty of moochers in Columbus.

I’m sure the Usual Suspects will be here soon to tell us just what a terrible RINO Mike is and how we need to vote for one of the Losers who can’t get more than 2% of the vote.

I’m a Bartholomew County native, although I don’t live there now. Having grown up there, I wouldn’t say its’ a liberal area by any stretch. Its’ always been pretty reliably Republican, which I know isn’t always synonymous with conservative, but still. A Democrat isn’t going to win that seat. Not a chance.

I’m another lifelong Bartholomew County native, still here in fact. Agreed, I don’t think the natives are liberals, but the transplants, they certainly are.

Hey, numb nut Texan, this Hoosier is not waiting for a check in the mail. Do you know anything about Indiana, or are you just basing your thoughts on Indianapolis, Bloomington and Gary? Have you ever lived here?

You wanna rethink that comment after learning he voted for the debt ceiling? He lost my vote.

Why should I rethink my comment? Anyone with a shred of realism knew the debt ceiling would be raised, no surprises there.

What I find interesting is that the hard core commies in the House voted AGAINST the bill.

While I don’t like it, it is very hard to be on the same side as Jan Scankowski and sorts like that.

Yeah, everyone knew it was going to be raised, but someone like him should’ve stood on his principles. If we keep up the momentum, we’re one or two election cycles away from either completely taking over or destroying the Republican party, so his cowtowing to the leadership is just a sign of weakness.

Have you ever considered that he DID stand by his principles?
Sometimes principles can conflict and one must go. It doesn’t mean one has rejected his principles. But there are priorities.
