Long-lost Sarah Palin surfaces in emails Once, there was a different Sarah Palin.
Politico ^ | June 11, 2011 | MOLLY BALL

Posted on 06/11/2011 6:02:30 PM PDT by Hojczyk

She was hands-on and averse to partisan politics. She championed openness in government and had normal relations with the media. She was a little starstruck by her interactions with national politicians but unafraid to do battle with the chief executives of the world’s largest oil companies

The emails from her governorship, released Friday, brought back the memory of a long-lost Palin: the popular, charismatic, competent woman of the people.

Far from being a knee-jerk partisan, she praises then-Sen. Barack Obama for his energy ideas — “pretty cool,” even though he is the “wrong candidate.” She derides the Republican establishment just weeks before being picked for the ticket, writing, “we need to remember the GOP, for the most part … especially the AK machine … has not had any support or assistance provided our administration so our time and efforts will continue to be spent on serving Alaskans, not party politics.”

Well I guess the talking points are out...she was good but now she is what we say she is...

This was the vice presidential candidate John McCain’s team thought they were getting, before her darker tendencies — defensiveness, thin skin, grudge-keeping — hardened into tics.

Friday: Hang on we and our idiot live-in-thier-mother’s basement-supporters are sifting, this is going to be good....um, whoops there’s nothing here!!!! Saturday: Sniff, she’s not who she used to be.

Wow.

That is not surprising given the order she signed as Governor in 2007 creating a climate change panel.

Great hit piece. “She was better back then than she is now,” is the synthesized message from the Journolist inspired, communist hacks at Politico. I prefer mouse and rat manure to these people.

going. What ever they say puts her in a better light,
they would be smart to just shut up, but they can’t.

Translation: Waaaa! Waaaah! She won't give us interviews and appear on our lame-ass dinosaur media shows so we can hit her with the list of 'gotcha' questions we've had made up for a year now. And...she makes us chase her bus around like paparazzi! She doesn't even send us press releases about where she's going and provide us with free foooood! Waaaahhh!

MSM is basically saying: Gee, we set out to destroy her with every rotten low down unethical and immoral trash we could throw at her and her family and and now she’s different...we’re so disappointed and of course we’ll have to make sure no one makes the mistake of voting for the damaged Sarah.

Here comes the spin on the emails that make Sarah look presidential.

The MSM created an image of her, and how they are trying to say that it was Sarah who changed.

You just KNOW they thought they would find things that would make Sarah look like an idiot. Since that didn't happen, and since it made her look like a leader, they must say that she has changed. It's disgusting, and makes me pull toward Palin. I'll be honest. I wasn't sure about her, but what I've seen in these emails validates her as a viable candidate. Nice job, MSM!

Molly, you slut. THanks for the smear-piece on Sara Palin. You have just given us the latest evidence of why honest, objective journalism is in the crapper.

Well, at least we can add your name to the toilet paper we use to wipe our asses. You join Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, Katie Couric, anyone from MSBNC, a lot of CNN, the Wash. Post, and NY Times.

Not only can you kiss my ass, now you can wipe it.

I think I’ll go out and burn my old press cards to protest your existence. Once we had honor. Now you have none.

The MFM are adrift, casting around for the right narrative to use to derail Palin.

They haven’t found it yet. This one is a pathetic and weak attempt. But they will try floating some other garbage tomorrow on the talking head shows.

It must be very frustrating to be a Democrat shill right now. Maybe they will get their talking points sorted out soon and get rid of this “message uncertainty” that has been making their lives an absolute hell for the last few days.

Why can’t their masters just give them some marching orders that they can follow, instead of forcing them to come up with something original, anyway? It’s not fair, I tell you, it’s just not fair. Somebody do something!

The Alaska Climate Change Committee was to determine and study what effects climate change would have on Alaskans. One would be hiding their head in the sand to not think that climate change occurs, and to be considering what might be done depending on if it warms or cools. (Water storage, power, transportation, etc.) Her key sentence there is about how Alaska would be more affected by climate change than other places (most folks near the water, permafrost issues, glaciers, etc.)

Here is an article from CBS from 2009:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/12/politics/animal/main4443795.shtml

PALIN’S GLOBAL-WARMING SKEPTICISM.... Since Sarah Palin was added to the Republican ticket, there have been multiple reports about her skepticism regarding the science behind global warming. Last night, during her ABC interview, Palin was pressed on her beliefs, and got a little defensive.

“Show me where I have ever said that there’s absolute proof that nothing that man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any effect or no effect on climate change. I have not said that,” Palin told Charlie Gibson.

Well, what has she said? The AP takes a closer look, and concludes Palin’s remarks to ABC are “at odds with her previous statements.”

[I]n the past Palin has said she does not believe global warming is caused by human activity. She has told the Internet news site Newsmax, “A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location.... I’m not one, though, who would attribute it to being man-made.”In an interview with a Fairbanks newspaper within the last year, Palin said: “I’m not an Al Gore, doom-and-gloom environmentalist blaming the changes in our climate on human activity.” ABC cited the interview as being at odds with her statement.

I can appreciate Palin being embarrassed about her beliefs now; she’s obviously well outside the scientific mainstream. If I were her, in my first national television interview, I’d be tempted to distance myself from right-wing talking points, too.

But Palin’s record is Palin’s record, and the fact remains that she’s so far out there, she’s rejected the connection between global warming and human activity. Indeed, she’s done so more than once. This not only tells us something important about Palin’s understanding of public policy, it also tells us a great deal about how she perceives and considers evidence that runs counter to her ideology.

So this is your “big finding,” MSM... that Palin is more partisan and bitter than before... that she no longer gets along with the media? Gosh ya don`t think it could be in any way related to the sh!t you`ve flung about her and her family, would it?

The small silver lining in all this is the MSM`s giving up of all pretenses toward unbiased reporting. Their actions here firmly place them in the category of propaganda ministry.

0bama can put them on the federal payroll now. No need to launder their pay through other parties anymore.

thanks for clarifying the “global warming” stuff. especially the great research in #31.

...a Governor isn’t a scientist. back then, the MSM was harping that ALL true scientists “knew” AGW was real, instead of the Hoax we now know it is, after the Hadley CRU climategate with “hide the decline”, etc.

So back then, it would have been irresponsible to ignore it without any study. but, as you point out, even on that, her instincts were correct, and she was way ahead of the curve on the AGW Hoax.

...i’m also grateful to the MSM. the more they dig, the more i learn about her, and the more i like her.
(...gee. maybe if they did the same to Barry Soetoro, i’d like him more...?)

If critics were hoping to see Palin revealed as a hypocrite, they’re out of luck. Her private statements are in line with her public ones when it comes to issues like Troopergate, the ethics scandal in which she was accused of abusing her authority to punish her sister’s ex-husband. Her emails on the matter fulminate against what she insists are false accusations, maintaining the same consistent defense — that Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan was fired for performance, not personal, reasons.

Palin comes across as neither an airhead nor a prima donna. She is warm and supportive with her staff, who are loyal to her in turn. She frequently misspells in haste or phonetically (“nonsensicle” for “nonsensical”), but her writing is fluent and grammatical.

Nor is she a figurehead. She is active in guiding policy, a self-assured politician who knows where she stands. When she feels she’s been left out of the loop on responding to a disaster, she’s adamant — “someone from Homeland Security/Emergency Management needs to call me and inform me on things like this … I insist on being informed during any situation where the public would feel any person could be in danger.”

That's pretty much what I expected to come out of this witch-hunt, unless they planted lies in the database.
