Bazillions of Brazilians.
MV used to have a lot of Irish illegals and Senator Kennedy sheilded them.
Yes. The most obvious businesses are Landscaping firms.
It seems that may be the only way to stem the flow...
libtard slavery
Martha’s Vineyard is a near gated community where illegals are hired as kitchen help and landscapers and are in construction. Rich Liberals love having a few slaves!
The poor saps that have to try to make a living by the rules are finding it difficult and the children of Long time Island families are finding it hard to find good entry level jobs!
Expose those who are hiring the illegals - like a certain government offical who has a garden landscape business! I know of illegals who are living rent free in houses they bought and defaulted on the debts and live rent free until the bank can find a buyer!
The entire state was like that in the late '80s.
“Should every town have a website like “Operation Punchbowl”?”
There is one:
It is America’s Open Secret. Millions of illegals work here. Companies that obey the law often cannot compete with the protected employers of illegals.
Liberals need slaves, whether they be foreign, domestic, to poverty and government dependency or to high taxes and regulation(they be exempted, of course).
Without slavery and corruption, liberals would have an existential crisis.
I’m glad to see some discussion of this at all (outside of Howie Carr the big illegal population here is never mentioned). I’m not sure the businesses should take ALL the flak, although they deserve some.
The real flak should go to the liberal democrats who run this state and write its laws. It is so costly to hire employees in this state (unemployment taxes, various insurances, minimum wage, etc.), on top of all the other legislative netting imposed on businesses (environmental laws, taxes, zoning laws, taxes, licensing regulations, taxes). That’s no excuse for giving jobs to invaders of our country, but the point should be made. It won’t, though. Everything in Massachusetts is blamed on capitalism.
Well, hey , dear, liberal friends who voted for every democrat since you became eligible to vote, the only answer to your all your problems is to re-elect the same democrats from your local dog-catcher right on up to our much beloved president once more for old times sake. /SARC
A few years ago I went on vacation to Nantucket, which is even richer than MV. We caught a cab to our rental, and the cabbie was Jamaican. We spoke with someone who lived on Nantucket, and said that some of the locals were mad because some of the Jamaicans stay, have kids, and those kids go to the schools on the island. The rich liberal elites have a little secret that they don’t want anyone to know about- some are racist.
Years ago some friends and I went fishing out at Montauk, Long Island; I couldn’t believe how many “apparently illegal” workers were on the fishing boats, and I couldn’t figure out for the life of me where they lived (it is a very expensive area).
At the Jersey shore I’ve noticed an increase in the number of small fast-food restaurants for Mexicans; these aren’t in the prime tourist areas, but set back some distance, and didn’t seem to be interested in attracting American customers (all signs in Spanish, not the cleanest looking places). I assumed they were for workers in local businesses.
Ping!
In New England there are Portugese sailors who come across to work in tourist season, and also in Wildwood, there are many eastern europeans during the summer. This has been going on in Wildwood for years-it used to be predominately Irish before their economy took off.
I remember the Irish at Wildwood & Seaside; were those real guest workers or illegals?
