In a dramatic about face, Angela Merkel agreed last month to phase out nuclear power in Germany by 2022 -- part of a gloabl backlash after the Fukushima disaster. Now many Germans are recognizing the downside to her decision, according to SPIEGEL.
First, higher emissions. The German Energy Agency warned that by 2020 they will not be able to achieve a 40% reduction in carbon emissions relative to 1990. Instead they will manage only a 30-33% reduction.
Second, higher electricity costs. Jürgen Grossmann, head of energy giant RWE, accused Merkel of creating an "eco-dictatorship" and promoting de-industrialization.
On Friday, he took the battle a step further, warning in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung that Merkel's phase out plan could result in large companies turning their backs on the country as a result of climbing energy prices. "The de-industrialization (of Germany) won't come all at once. It will be a gradual process," Grossmann said. "Soon we will have to do without entire industrial sectors: companies like BASF and Thyssen-Krupp won't be here anymore."

If you de-industrialize Europe, when the muzzies take over they will not get much for their efforts except a lot of muzzies and no industry.

Between the wholesale war on modern technology by the environmental cultists and the growing influence of Islamic fundamentalism among 2nd and 3rd generation Muslim immigrants, we may witness the descent of Europe into another Dark Age in our lifetimes.
The Germans have been pushing “green” energy for decades.

The lefties in Germany really want to return to the Dark Ages. Unfortunately, Merkel had recently been losing popularity, and decided to try the RINO ploy. Throw your enemies a bone and make yourself popular with them.

Now, about "deindustrialization", that's the Morganthau Plan first proposed at the end of WWII.
The idea was Germany would be deindustrialized and returned to its late Medieval state as the location of a number of weak, impoverished principalities where millions of low paid peasants eked out a living in between severe famines.
It was thought of as too hateful to impose on anyone ~ yet here's Angela Merkel "jus' doin' it".

They are already living with it. Energy prices are high and everything is recycled. You need to separate your garbage into four or five different parts and you have large bins scattered everywhere for the disposal of glass bottles—one for brown, one for green, one for clear, etc. Everyone brings in their plastic bottles to the grocery stores and feed them into recycling machines. No more incadescent bulbs. The Greens have their foot on the necks of the people. I doubt many Americans—at least today—would tolerate such nonsense.
There are other posibilities not being noticed...by supposed “jounalism professionals” and pundits.
So there may possibly be no negative consequence of any kind by then.
Under certain circumstances, this move could reap significant benefits for Germany that could not be gained in any other way.
I read today that the Swiss are doing the same thing.

It is coming here as well. By 2014 many coal power plants in the USA will be shut down by the EPA because they are not “clean”. Unfortunately the windmills and solar panels promised to take up the slack are not yet constructed nor are they viable. Large sections of middle America will begin to experience the frequent brownouts and blackouts of a third world country. Once the people get angry about interrupted electrical supplies the government will step in and begin rationing power. The Greens will be happy as what is left of our manufacturing economy flees to China and other countries who care nothing about emissions.
Don’t be knocking the recycling machines. Helps me cut down on my food bills, and gives me a little cigarette money. Heck,it’s an extra 5 or 6€ per week. If I’m feeling industrious, I take my cargo bike and do a bottle round-up, like I did today. I reckon I made about € 25 for 1 1/2 hours work, and it was a nice day for riding, too. Not bad.

The fewer people there are, the easier the remainder are to control, either through customs and religion or by force. No matter what the method they want to control all of us.

With any luck and sense, thorium nuke technology could make some inroads in a couple of years. Of course, the word ‘nuclear’ alone sends the eco-fascists into a hissy fit. (Never mind all that CO2-reduction idiocy that is now being brought forth even by industrial leaders - more stupidity...)
But when industries start to turn their back on this ship of fools, *that’s* when folks will reconsider.

Unfortunately, they won't. Electricity rates will rise so much that everyone will simply sit in the heat and the darkness voluntarily. The only reason California experienced blackouts several years ago was that the liberals-in-charge had forbidden retail price hikes.
They've learned. Like frogs in the pot, we'll ration ourselves into the Dark Ages -- nodding all the while at the common sense and the wisdom of preventing climate change.
