You got that right. Last time statehood came up in 98’, the statehood proponents were going around telling people they would be able to qualify for all these yummy welfare bennies.
It didn’t wash, and as soon as Gov. Fortuno’s reforms REALLY kick in, the last thing Puerto Riquenos will want is to hitch themselves to the sinking USS OBAMA.
If Gov. Fortuno’s reforms work out as such reforms always do, there will be a slew of Puerto Ricans going BACK to Puerto Rico, rather than the other way.
Maybe a few non-P.R. economic refugees as well.
