Not a good question. My current fave is Rick Santorum. If he implodes, then probably Tim Pawlenty (I don’t think Herman Cain will last more than a few months). Rick Perry is a good candidate, but too many Texans have said too many adverse things about him for my comfort.

Please Freepers, vote NO so as not to encourage him. He is the only one who can pose a threat to Sarah. If he won the primary, then yes, I probably would vote for him, but I would rather head him off at the pass and get Sarah. Vote no.

Moreover, he believes in global warming...

I can find no evidence this is true; everything I can find indicates the opposite. He appears to have been against the AGW claims since before it was "cool."

I will vote for the Republican as long as it’s Palin.

That is the same answer this native Texan gives. Perry is NOT my first choice but should he be the nominee from the GOP, he will be my ONLY choice for president. The Kenyan Klown, the Marxist Moron, the Mental Midget, etc. cannot be re-elected IF the country is to be salvaged.

The Bushes do NOT like Gov. Perry, so it is simply not accurate to connect him to the Bushes, especially considering the fact that they endorsed Kay Bailey Hutchison in the primary against him last year.

I mean, really. Why do people have to trash Gov. Perry so much? Does someone have to be 100% perfect to be our nominee?

Perry is a zillion times better than Obama and absolutely better than Romney, Pawlenty, Gingrich or Santorum.

He’s got approximately 12 years of executive branch experience (roughly 2 as Lt. Gov and 10 years as Gov). He has the most executive branch experience of any candidate or potential candidate in the race.

Governor Pecos Perry Goodhair is a weak sister on ILLEGAL ALIENS and the securing our borders, issues.

That is enough for me to rule him out.

I won’t even go into his being a former member of the RAT party, his signing the “James Byrd Hate Crime” bill into law or the fact that under his “guidance” our property taxes are higher than a cat’s back.

He has demonstrated an uncanny ability to say all the right things, but his not following through on them has been a major disappointment for this Texan.

Besides, don’t you think that the SRM and their butt-buddies in the dnc would have a field day with another Texas Governor running for POTUS?

“The Texas Emissions Reduction Plan. In lieu of sweeping federal mandates, Gov. Perry authorized an incentive-driven Texas Emissions Reduction Plan, which has reduced ozone levels in Texas cities by 22 percent since its adoption. “

Judge a politician by what he does and NOW what he says. Do you recall “Read my lips no new Taxes”

How come so many conservatives say he is a RINO? Furthermore, I can’t believe you give him a pass on the borders. That alone should tell you something. Sorry not voting for Bush III.

What a stupid question. I can’t answer any question regarding voting in an election unless I know who the other choices are.

I like clean air.

Texas has oil refineries. Perry has been trying to make sure we have acceptable air quality without the Feds making those decisions for us. Perry is trying to save the energy companies in Texas while the Feds are trying to close them down. That's what Perry is doing.

Trying to spin that into Perry being a man-made global warmist while he has made it clear he is not, is, at a minimum, disingenuous.

I'm not trying to talk you into voting for anyone...I'm just a fan of the truth.

Your post is nonsense. Are you that clueless or part of the gang of 8 that go thread to thread trashing Perry?

So tell me about Perry’s stance on the border? Did he not want the Texas Corridor from Mexico? Sorry borders alone tells me everything I need to know about him.

You're lying about him being for global warming. Tout Sarah's qualifications and why she's better rather than lying about Perry. That's something Liberals do.

Good for you, I would too. No one who has already put his.her hat in the ring for the Republican nomination would be worse than FUBO. I get really tired of those who are waiting for the Conservative Messiah and will not take anything less. They are the one’s who elected Obama in the first place. I hate abortion, and I love Jesus, but’s he’s not on the ballot, so we should act like adults and not spoiled children who are not getting everything we want in a president if the nominee does not agree with everything we want. Four more years of Obama and you might not have a church to attend.

Rick Perry's political career started in 1985 as a representative for a rural West Texas district in the state House of Representatives. He was first elected to statewide office in 1990, and served as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture for two terms. Governor Perry hails from Paint Creek, a small farming community north of Abilene. His father, Ray Perry, served as a Haskell County Commissioner, school board member and a World War II tail gunner. Between 1972 and 1977, Governor Perry served in the United States Air Force, flying C-130 tactical airlift aircraft in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East. He is a 1972 graduate of Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a junior and senior yell leader and an animal science major. The younger of Ray and Amelia Perry's two children, Governor Perry is an Eagle Scout and lifetime member of American Legion Post #75.

This is just a cut and paste from his web site, but it's all true. He has made some mistakes as Governor but listened to the Legislature and the people when they got loud. A RINO he is not and some have even taking to lying about the guy on this forum.

By “for global warming” I of course mean “believes in it”
