Many students support affirmative action, in an effort to promote diversity. They argue that race-based preferences "level the playing field" for disadvantaged minorities. However, these same students refused to sign our petition to apply such policies to the basketball team. At UC Riverside -- where the video was filmed -- 10/11 active players on the team are African American. Why not use affirmative action to promote diversity there?

It’s funny. I asked this same question at work one day.
The blacks all laughed and said, that the object was to win ball games.
I said yes, and ours is to put out fires, I was called a racist and sent to diversity class, where I lasted 3 hrs, before the instructor (a black woman) had me taken out of class for being a disturbing influence. No other job action was ever taken, I guess I was lucky.
Excellent lesson in reality; affirmative action is more correctly referred to as Promotion of Unqualified Black People.
It does NOT translate as Promotion of Whites in Sport, nor does it even refer to Promotion of Asians in Academic Admissions.
I hope someone sues the NBA and NFL as not being racially representative of the United States.

I’ve been saying this for years. We should all have the same diversity policy as the NBA.

That would be fun to watch liberal hypocrites twist themselves into racist pretzels. We’d first need to find a PC Marxist judge. (Not hard to do.) Then call the NBA owners and players racists. (Easy to do.)
I have a better idea. Why not make sports comply to the ADA requirements so they have to have a percentage of disabled players too? In that manner of course, we would have to end “scoring” so that players would not suffer harm to their “self-esteem” and everyone has a chance to become the football/basketball star they always wanted to be.

I have been saying this for years. Something important like police or fire/rescue services we implement affirmative action; in essence taking the less qualified so as to look like America. Conversely, in the entertainment and sports field, we do not implement affirmative action; in essence we take only the most qualified - and the teams do NOT look like America.
NBA and NFL must be held accountable to make their teams look like America; at least 80 to 85 percent Caucasian.
Yes, we should. On all teams but my hometown teams. I’d rather win than play fair - whatever THAT means.
