Obama jokes about his own incompetence (We are NOT amused)
American Thinker ^ | 06/14/2011 | Rick Moran

Posted on 06/14/2011 7:06:00 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

The president's Council on Jobs and Competitivenes held a meeting in Durham, NC on Monday and the president was in excellent spirits.

He even told a joke highlighting his own incompetence:

President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness met today in Durham, NC at Cree Inc., a company that manufactures energy-efficient LED lighting. One of the Council's recommendations to President Obama was to streamline the federal permit process for construction and infrastructure projects. It was explained to Obama that the permitting process can delay projects for "months to years ... and in many cases even cause projects to be abandoned ... I'm sure that when you implemented the Recovery Act your staff briefed you on many of these challenges." At this point, Obama smiled and interjected, "Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected." The Council, led by GE's Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter.

Of course they laughed. If you made the world's absolute silliest light bulb, you'd laugh at a joke from the guy who made it illegal to compete with you too.

As for the unemployed and the American taxpayer, who are suffering because of this man's gross incompetence, I don't think they find much to be amused about.

I hope there’s good video of this for the Republican candidates to use.

Of course they laughed.

When Stalin gave a speech, people applauded. They clapped, and clapped, and clapped, and clapped, and clapped.

No one wanted to be the first to stop exhibiting praise of the Leader.

“I hope there’s good video of this for the Republican candidates to use.”

I’ve seen it, and it’s good enough quality to use. If it’s not used, then they deserve to lose.

What Zero & company are doing to this country is not being done out of incompetence. It’s deliberate. It’s malicious. And it’s out of a desire to destroy this country as a world power. Dear Leader and friends know precisely what they are doing.

Regulation is killing this country and its economic system. In Indiana, years ago several power companies got together to build a nuclear power plant named Marble Hill. After 8 years, the necessary permits were in place and construction began. Then, a bunch of tree huggers complained that the reactor might cause the water temperature in the discharge cooling pond to rise above natural levels. (Well, duh, that's what a cooling pond is for.) Anyway, after 13 years of delays, most of them permitting processes, they simply gave up. There are dozens of similar stories and thousands of permits-killed-the-investment stories.

I totally agree. Everything that is going on today is not an accident. The goal is to tear down the U.S. and make us totally dependent on the government. What they don’t realize is that Americans will take so much and then take things into their own hands.......one way or another.

I would love to see the funny man make another of his jokes and have it met with stone cold silence. You know he is feeling the heat and all he can think of is to make a joke out of it?

Obama has been shovel-ready for a long time.

"The goal is to tear down the U.S. and make us totally dependent on the government."

Yep. History shows the two things which most prevented the Marxist spread of global communism were 1) the middle class and 2)the Christian Church. Obama and the rest of the left are doing everything possible to destroy both.

Regarding Marble Hill ~ there was a lot more to it than a cooling pond ~ there was the matter of an additional $4 billion in construction costs to make it operational.

The only people to make any money on this project were the lawyers, and then the court cut them off at the knees and they got less than 1/3 of what their minimum take otherwise would have been.

It's really about lawyers.

If the deal with nuke projects was that any losing counsel would be tossed into the reactor I don't think any of them would take the risk.

I looked for material proving improper construction and it wasn't there ~ there had been charges that mistakes were covered over so inspectors couldn't see them but when it came time 30 years later to knock down the building they'd complained about it didn't budge. It took many more tons of dynamite to bring it down.

I suspect the whole project was done in by criminals.

About four months after Porkulus had passed, I got wind of a large IT contract that had been let by a Northeastern state government.

The project was rather large, and would require from 6 to 12 months to complete. The goal of the project was to implement changes to the state’s IT systems and databases “in order to comply with the reporting requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act”.

I knew right there and then that Porkulus would be a huge flop. Even if they wanted to spend a billion dollars to try and goose the economy, the government is STRUCTURALLY INCAPABLE of doing so. For cryin’ out loud, it was going to take close to a year to change the computer systems just to comply with the reporting requirements!

It looks as if Barry just figured that out yesterday.

I bet Romney's team is already on this—to turn that “joke” into a 30 second web commercial. It needs nothing other than to play it and the people laughing. No music, no graphics. Mitt's commercial about “bump” on the road was pretty effective.

I'm not a fan of Romney...but he has a very good shot at winning the primary then the presidency. Worst case scenario....I'll take Romney. We are in a frightening financial situation...I feel pretty confident he would be up to the job. I just want that horrible fraud out of power. He's destroying our country.

I like the idea of using the audio version of his book as sound bites for commercials for the republicans. My choice would be when he was on the evil white man theme...the money line is somehting about how he nursed a deep seated grievance against white people... Play that in a loop.

I am ashamed that Americans voted for this fraud. I still don’t get it.

Non Sequitor and they are benefiting from this asinine law.

Not that I won’t be buying LED’s. I luv them in my flashlights.

They are a superior alternative to the pigtails.

The meeting took place at Cree. The writer of the piece missed the whole point ~ and commenters carved out even more space that simply ignored Cree.

It’s easy - the power of the press. The sheeple were told who to vote for and they did. Sure I’m sure some votes were stolen as well - but I’d assign the full court media press the lion’s share of the blame. Well, that and people not being able to think.

Then, there's the stupid Congresscritter who sponsored it ~ time to publish his nekkid guy pictures eh!
