Obama speaks to half-empty fundraiser--heckled in Florida

President Obama’s re-election campaign swept through Florida on Monday. Obama spoke at three fundraisers, including one that was open to the public.

The largest fundraiser had a disappointing turnout. Politico reported that only 980 tickets were sold for the event at the 2,200 seat Adrienne Arsht Center. The upper level of the center was completely empty, the second and third levels only partially full, according to Politico.

Tickets were sold at a relatively low $44.

“I know the conversation you guys are having. ‘I’m not feeling as hopeful as I was.’ And I understand that,” Obama told attendees. “There have been frustrations, and I’ve got some dings to show for it over the last two and half years.”

During the speech a protester interrupted, shouting, “keep your promise, stop AIDS now.” Other attendees drowned out the heckler by chanting “Obama, Obama, Obama.”

“There have been frustrations, and I’ve got some dings to show for it over the last two and half years.”

The dings in his golf cart, no doubt.

Yeah, but it’s sad that the only thing he gets heckled about is AIDS (more gubment money) and not his real disasters.

“I have no Lord and Master but Doctor Ubama!”*

*Very obscure German movie reference.

This is nothing new.

FLASHBACK

Six weeks before the election, President Obama couldn’t fill the ballroom at the Roosevelt Hotel, despite cheap tickets on offer. And then he was met by hecklers.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-09-23/obamas-fire-sale/

Who would have thought that six weeks before a cliffhanger election, President Obama would have to reach down to the D list to fill a room to listen to him? Most of us low rollers arrived early to see President Obama up close and personal. Our tickets for the general reception at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York were only $100. Some thought the email invitation was a joke. Some bought tickets for $50 from their desperate Democratic committeeman. Some bought the same day.

SNIP

“Do we need to line up early to get in?”

“That’s not necessary. Everybody will get in.”

And everybody did—450 people in a room that holds 650. Even Obama’s fire sale didn’t sell out.

It is the Obama Drinking Game: take a shot every time he uses a first-person singular personal pronoun.

I'm as opposed to “The Obama” as anyone, but I honestly do not remember him promising to “stop AIDS now”.

Now, he made a LOT of promises which he has, thankfully in most cases, subsequently broken, so I can understand MANY of his former supporters being VERY disappointed in him, but failing to “stop AIDS now” seems like an unfair accusation to make — even against Obama.

By the way, I have not been disappointed in any way by Mr. Obama’s performance as president. Disappointment would require him to have in some way failed to live up to my expectations. And so far, he has pretty much been EXACTLY what I expected him to be.

Obama--heckled in Florida

That does not mean anything. One single heckler, in a crowd of 100,000, will draw the news media like flies to a cow pie.

Obama speaks to half-empty fundraiser in Florida (Tickets were sold at $44.)

OUCH!!! That means a lot.

“keep your promise, stop AIDS now.”

The Right is unhappy because he's a socialist.

The Left is unhappy because he's not as effective in imposing socialism as they desire.

The middle is unhappy over unemployment.

Yet this guy still polls decent numbers?

...and in one half-hour speech you’d be drunker than if you played that other drinking game, in which you watch the movie ‘Scarface’ and drink every time a form of the f-— word is used.

He planned this event to be in Miami because he predicted the Heat to win. Hee hee....has he ever been right in picking B-Ball winners?

Nice point and yes, just once - he predicted my tarheels in the 2009 NCAAs but having the tarheels win took the sting out of Zero being right.

The Fuhrer is sliding into the RAT sewer to become the worst President in American history. Even Jimmah isn’t as low.

IMHO: The Fuhrer is sliding has slid deeply into the RAT sewer

Gimme More Motors in Detroit and Detroit itself are testaments to Obama's (and democrat political) leadership skills. Golf and fundraisers are a close second and third of his achievements, followed by bending over backwards (we've all seen the pictures) of Muslim outreach, disrespect to America's allies and expanding both government and taxation upon the American people like no one before him.

The democrat party now equates with socialism and funding their party with our tax money via Obama's favored unions who have benefited from democrat stimulus money while most Americans now fear for their jobs or have already lost them.

Yeah, most ridiculous heckler possible, but I think we’re mixing the sloganeering of “Stop AIDS” with the actual beef.... which is that Obama cut AIDS funding, both in the US and Africa.

He cut Bush’s strong programs, and then started his own, that I guess aren’t up to the AIDS activist standards of hopey changey progress.

not even the zombies are buying this fraud's crap any more

Too bad, otherwise I would have presumed that to solve this problem, Obama simply needs to give speeches in locations that are closer to his supporters... such as cemeteries... :-)

Guess the cologne on the BS dissipated.

Obviously electing a mendacious Marxist like Obama president was empirical proof of a mentally ill America...

...but perhaps it was temporary insanity(IhopeIhopeIhope).
