In the past few days a number of hugely misleading reports have circulated in both Britain and the United States alleging that Margaret Thatcher snubbed Sarah Palin. It all began with a blog post in The Guardian claiming the former prime minister had refused to meet with Mrs. Palin on her upcoming visit to London, on the grounds that she was unworthy of an audience, and quoting an anonymous ally of Lady Thatcher.
According to The Guardian, in a piece entitled Margaret Thatcher to Sarah Palin: dont bother dropping by:
Her (Lady Thatchers) allies believe that Palin is a frivolous figure who is unworthy of an audience with the Iron Lady. This is what one ally tells me:
Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts.
This was followed up by another Guardian piece: Sarah Palin snub by Margaret Thatcher aides infuriates US rightwing, which declared:
The ally who criticised Palin said the Thatcher circle would not change their minds despite the backlash.
Margaret will not be meeting Palin. If necessary we will make sure that Margaret has an off day when Palin is in London.
I have spoken to Lady Thatchers Office regarding the story, and they confirm that the attack on Sarah Palin definitely did not come from her office, and in no way reflects her views. I can attest that this kind of thinking is entirely alien to her, and that such remarks would never be made by her office. She has always warmly welcomed like-minded figures in the United States, and has in the past met with numerous US presidential candidates and political dignitaries when they have visited London. But at the age of 85 she is now able to receive very few visitors at all.

The Liberal press again. Is there any other kind?
I am starting to think that freedom of the press is not all it’s cut out to be , when the press is making the news instead of reporting it.
I've had this happen before when posting from the Telegraph blogs.
They have PDS even in Britain?
It was clear from the minute this krap was posted on the ‘Guardian’ that it was just some made up krap by a more liberal pundit.
The liberal press’ credibility across the globe is becoming more irrevelant every day.
Lady Thatcher has rarely seen anyone since her stroke and the death of her husband, but she would NEVER say anything like the things written and everyone who knows of her knows that.

Dear Mr -,
Thank you for your message.I have no inside knowledge of this business to offer I am afraid and certainly am not in a position to make any kind of statement on Lady Thatchers behalf. Im happy though to give you my personal view. The Guardian, of course, is not a newspaper at all sympathetic to Lady Thatcher (or to Mrs. Palin), so reports on this topic, from that source, have minimal credibility. If nothing else, would Lady Thatcher have ever described a prominent US conservative politician as nuts, or approved an ally who used the description? I would hope that question answers itself.Of course, sadly, Lady Thatchers health is not good these days and such considerations naturally dominate her schedule. That much is true. Someone once said that if you plaster together the true and the false you thereby manufacture the plausible, but in this case I dont think even that much has been achieved by the Guardian. On the Malvinas, the OAS never learns and the State Department endlessly seeks to curry favour with it for the sake of the a quiet life. The question is a closed one as far as we in Britain are concerned, as it is in the Falklands themselves where opinion is undivided.
Best wishes,
Christopher Collins

Gee, I just love it when one of my two “allies” make decisions for me. Think of all the time that can say.
There was never any snub of Sarah Palin by Lady Thatchers office. However, there has been a great deal of mischief-making and unpleasantness from sections of the liberal press in a vain and futile attempt to use Margaret Thatchers name to smear a major US politician.
Yet more evidence that The Guardian is a commie rag with zero credibility.
I would schedule a special trip to the UK for Sarah and family and make a really bid deal her going over there to bolster her foreign policy credentials.
I can think of nothing fairer than to have what they lied about come to happen for real.
I don't think it would teach them a lesson, but it sure would feel good to know how they set themselves up with a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy!
