I didn't know I could claim to have emotional difficulties and get Social Security disability payments.

I sometimes wonder just how far this kind of thing goes. I have a retired neighbor who has a supposedly "retarded" son, age about 39. The funny thing is that I can't quite figure out what's so "retarded" about the guy. He holds a normal conversation, seems to be able to read and do arithmetic, is fully self-disciplined, and I'm absolutely certain he could hold down a productive job. Yet he languishes with his parents, doing all the work around the house. Makes me wonder if perhaps he's getting disability benefits that his parents are relying on in their retirement.
