Skip to comments.Photos: Riots, fire, destruction after Vancouverís loss

Blood in our streets. I saw people on the ground, bleeding. Shattered glass everywhere. Police cars set alight. Major bridges are now closed, preventing public access into the downtown core. Transit is plugged up, theres no way out. More police and fire crews are arriving, from the suburbs, but again, it seems too late. And as I write this, the sun has just set. Vancouver, what a disgrace

Boston won 4 games out of 7.
Boston also won championships in all 4 major sports in 7 years.
Who knew modern Canadians had it in ‘em?
I get the feeling it was all planned, win or lose.
I wonder if people who know the people in the photos will turn them in. Morons. Especially the one lighting the police car. They caught him “In flagrante delicto”, so to speak.
Well, they are just upset about Tory cuts to health care....
Now playing: “White Riot” by The Clash.
So much for moving to Canada.
Maybe we should make Canada annex Detroit as punishment.
Alberta is much better, than the rest of Canada.
Let white people burn their own neighborhoods. See if we care.
Heh heh. I’m ready for the next Canadian who talks down on the USA.
Goes to show that riots are not the result of any ethnic, racial,or religious “injustice”—they are simply the result of either mischievous or malevolent throwbacks looking for any excuse to loot, burn, steal, rape, rob or murder.
IOW Alinsky’s armies.
I was expecting this to be satire with pictures of morose Canadians milling about, but I found other sites talking about it. Yikes. Just imagine if they had a soccer team.
Vancouver is lost. We need to withdraw now.
Those riots are nothing compared to what we’re going to see here this summer.
It's all on the Pats now.
They now represent the longest championship drought among the 4 major sports teams.
Way to go Bruins!
We’ll see what happens today in Dallas, huge crowds downtown 100+ degree temperatures, busses and trains overflowing...could be a very interesting day here.
Boston did something Vanc. couldn’t do: win a road game in the finals. Had Vancouver won either game 3, game 4, or game 6 at the TD Garden, they would have been hoisting the Cup instead.
Indeed, Boston domination this past decade.
Vanc. also had riots when NY Rangers beat Canucks in S Cup in 94. I saw footage on World’s Wildest Police Videos. Remember seeing footage of riots/burning cars in Oakland when Raiders lost Super Bowl. Rioting/looting went on in Montreal when Canadians WON. I’d like to hope that most Canadians aren’t
like this, only a “few knuckleheads” as Menino would say.
It does give them a bad name, esp. the footage I was seeing. What if they’d WON? This was Canuckistan supposedly taking out their frustrations at losing (”Boston sucks!”, went some chants) Would it have been jubilant looting instead?
There were a couple fatalities related to Boston team wins/celebration in past decade, true. But any vandalism, etc. was kept to a minimum. I think I heard some people tried to overturn a bus in Bos., etc.
I saw a report that LeBron James was also part of the crowd throwing bricks - except his bricks missed.....
What does Michael Moore think about this?
“Blame Canada!” (South Park movie)
Vancouver has riots, Dodgers fans attack opposing fans, Chicago fans jump out of the stands to attack opposing managers, etc...
Yet Philly fans are the worse because they boo’d a skinny drunk santa 40+ years ago.
Absolutely disgraceful, but I can empathize with their frustration. Nothing more frustrating than losing to a team whose primary asset is a big galoot that takes up three-quarters of the net.
So glad we’re sailing out of Seattle instead of Vancouver. Wanted to visit while we were in Seattle for a few days before cruise but not now.
Okay how come no Amish comments?
wow, just wow
What’s with the burning of cars? Do they think they’re French now?
These punks try torching my car and I’ll put a 45 caliber hole through their forehead.
The ferality of secular socialism.
Because these are Mennonites?
It’s refreshing to see white people acting uppity for a change.
No less disgusting, however.
I made one last night, and only two people picked up on the joke.
Now I am really happy that Boston won. And I’m a Flyers’ fan.
Words fail me.
Wilding Mennonites! Not really.
Vancouver is mostly English-Irish-Scottish. Significant minority populations are Chinese, German, Italian and native tribal.
The very same thing happened after they lost the Cup in ‘93. And yet the authorities seemed totally unprepared.
This is all Roberto’s fault.
What was the joke?
Those riots are nothing compared to what were going to see here this summer.
Except those rioters will all be laid-off teachers and gubmint workers.
Some people use “Amish” as a code word for “black” around here, and I was giving them a poke.
I guess there’s white Amish and black Amish. And then, there’s real Amish. What do you get from a mob of real Amish?
I wonder if this will be on the Canucks season in review DVD.
I see the nitwits are flashing those stupid gang hand signs. There are young women running out of broken store windows with bags of merchandise too. The snowball effect for this generation of vipers.
Those photos will really cost some folks! It’s the Multicultural Amish, unlocking the feral beast within any mob.
It’s the Alinsky wet-dream!
That’s my stupid city. I witnessed the riots back in 94 when we LOST to the ranges and predicted this would happen in my post last night.
The local joke growing up was that Americans are too violent and warmongers....this proves otherwise, doesn’t it?
I’d like to slap the sh*t out of that first punk...well and the young punks in the other pics. The old punk just needs to be shot.
