White House’s Daley seeks balance in outreach meeting with manufacturers (hits rough patch)

It was supposed to be the White House’s latest make-nice session with corporate America — a visit by Chief of Staff William M. Daley to a meeting with hundreds of manufacturing executives in town to press lawmakers for looser regulations.

But the outreach soon turned into a rare public dressing down of the president’s policies with his highest-ranking aide.

President Barack Obama is using his weekly media message to ask for patience while the economy recovers. He says the recession didn't happen overnight and won't end that way either. (June 11)

One by one, exasperated executives stood to air their grievances on environmental regulations and stalled free-trade deals. And Daley, the former banker tasked with building ties with industry, found himself looking for the right balance between empathy and defending his boss.

At one point, the room erupted in applause when Massachusetts utility executive Doug Starrett, his voice shaking with emotion, accused the administration of blocking construction on one of his facilities to protect fish, saying government “throws sand into the gears of progress.”

Daley said he did not have many good answers, appearing to throw up his hands in frustration at what he called “bureaucratic stuff that’s hard to defend.”

“Sometimes you can’t defend the indefensible,” he said.

“Bureaucratic stuff that’s hard to defend,” the words of incompetent leaders incapable of controlling their own administration.
In the final analysis it does not matter whether this administration is incompetent or deliberately sabotaging the country. My guess is both. They have got to go.

"Boeing is warring with labor regulators over its decision to open a plant in South Carolina, which is hostile to unions."

According to the WAPO, allowing workers to choose to not join a union is considered 'hostile to unions'.

"He warned that some small businesses might face a tax increase."

This in not a problem in this Obamanation. Only a very, very small percentage of businesses will get a tax increase - it will be only those making a profit.

What a joke! These same marxists who are shoving obamacare into the system while at the same time telling companies to hire more people. All they have to do is look at Boeing. That manufacturer moved from union heavy Washington to South Carolina because their customers were not going to put up with delivery delays due to strikes. Then the NLRB starts up a bunch of crap to hamstring Boeing for the move. Guess what there daly, if the Party doesn’t ease up, Boeing’s next move will be to India.
Unless the Party starts putting up walls and watch towers.
