Old folks think it’s “free” and anything not nailed down belongs to them (they hide sugar packets in our local restaurants around Sun City Hilton Head). So look at all the “free things” you get from ARRP ... that’s the attraction. They’ve marketed it as an entitlement of the elderly and the elderly “expect” it. I dumped them years ago ... along with anything else with solid lib ties. “Hurry and sign up for ARRP and you get all the discounts at the motels”. Some of my neighbors absolutely disgust me with their stupidity ... and they are old enough to know better!

Yes, change is inevitable and it needs to happen NOW. I find it absolutely sickening that some Americans think their SS should be protected at the expense of this country as a whole. We were all promised something and it will take all of us sacrificing to turn things around. The money is not there. That being said, it will be interesting to see if AARP walks the talk.

That is the part that gets to me. How
old people grew up during the depression,
WW1 and WW2. and now think the way they
do. I hear the word ‘Free’ used so freely
to distort, disguise, and deceive as to the
real meaning of FREE. If it is free, someone
somewhere, is paying.

Free IMHO should be used to describe our status
under the Constitution, in this great land. Anything
else is distortion of the concept.
