That's a very compelling argument. I'm not aware of what is the goverment's right, power to regulate, sanction marriages except for collecting license fees, to determine, what demographic group may or may not be eligible. Orthodox Jewry requires the acquisition of a rabbinical document validating the marriage based on religious law, and must also seek a separate document in the case of divorce.Exactly what is the power invested in state goverment that allows it to determine marriage partner eligibility?

This is what most seem to not realize. The state HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIGE. Moreover many running the show for the state gleefully encouraged the dismissal of morality (Marrige) in living arrangements. They’ve now cut themselves out at BOTH ends.
