S.F. losing kids as parents seek schools, homes
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 6/20/11 | Heather Knight

For Kearsley Higgins, raising a baby in San Francisco was idyllic. She and her husband owned a small two-bedroom house in the Castro, she found plenty of activities for her daughter, Maya, and made friends through an 11-member mothers' group.

Now as the mother of an almost 4-year-old, with a baby boy due in September, Higgins has left. A year ago, she and her husband, a digital artist, bought a four-bedroom home with a large backyard in San Rafael. Maya easily got into a popular preschool and will be enrolled in a good public elementary school when the time comes.

The other moms in Higgins' group have moved on, too - to the East Bay, the Peninsula, Michigan and Texas. Just one of the 11 still lives in San Francisco.

"Everyone was very committed to the city when we were starting, and then they all left," said Higgins, 36, a stay-at-home mom. "You see tons of strollers in the city and people running around with the little ones, but then the vacuum occurs."

And the vacuum is growing.

And the vacuum is growing.
They're acknowledging that it sucks to raise a family in San Francisco.

Former mayor Gavin Newsom joined the exodus. He’s remarried now, and his new wife and family have abandoned the city.

Ironic, because Newsom worked as mayor to try to keep families with children in San Francisco. But he voted with his feet too.

Good. SF isn’t a good place for kids anyway.

Maybe the unspoken truth is that they really didn’t want to raise their kids in The Castro? It’s one thing to live in such a place as an adult without kids. But it’s yet another to want to have childen exposed to what goes on there.

"Wherever he winds up living in the long term, Newsom sticks by his efforts as mayor to retain families. He pointed to a long list of policies, including universal preschool, universal after-school programs, universal health care, revitalized parks and libraries, and a working family tax credit."

The homosexuals of San Francisco appreciate all the efforts to improve city life. Especially those "revitalized parks and libraries", though they miss the kids.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

There are NO good government schools in this nation!

1) ALL government owned and run schools in this nation are godless in their worldview. Simply by attending children learn to think and reason godlessly. They must merely to cooperate in the classroom and turn in assignments. ( Christian teachers who attempt to sneak in a little Christian philosophy or belief teach the children that Christians are sneaky.)

2) ALL government schools in this nation are socialist-funded, compulsory, and collectivist managed by the voter mob. Merely by attending children learn to be comfortable with taking money from their neighbor by government force, government compulsion, and collectivist and voter mob management of their lives. And...Now with Death Panels even how they will die.

3) Nearly all government owned and run schools look like prisons, treat the children like prisoners, and the government tramples **ALL** of their First Amendment Rights. Merely by attending children learn to be compliant prisoners of the state. ( Are the sheep-like people in the TSA lines proof enough of that?)

Young liberal couples are moving out of San Francisco and coming to your neighborhood where they vote to raise your taxes and take your freedom.

Have a nice day. :)

You lived in the Castro with a family.

That’s like setting up a chuch in Riyadh.

We have two friends who left SF and now live in Pleasanton.

SF is expensive and left of Marx. Even Libtards, when pressed, will move to the suburbs for safety and schools.

Unfortunately, those libtards brought their poison over to my side of the Caldecott. I can remember when Bill Baker represented this area. Now it's John Garamendi.

There aren’t many wrinkled old homos because the vast majority die before age 45.
