Obama chooses own legal advice

President Obama overruled top Defense and Justice Dept. lawyers in his interpretation of legal authority to continue the U.S.’s role in the war in Libya, the New York Times reported late Friday citing sources familiar with the deliberations.

Obama chose to adopt the advice of senior members of his own legal team over top lawyers at the Pentagon and the Justice Dept., arguing that U.S. involvement in the NATO operation fell short of “hostilities,” which would have resulted in Obama having to seek congressional approval to continue American participation in the conflict.

The headline would be “Defiant Bush Ignores Defense, Justice Lawyers On War” instead of some watered down nothing like “Obama chooses own legal advice.”

Well he is a genius on Constitutional law, we've all read his learned treatises and errudite books on the subject..........oh wait, yeah, there are none, just ghostwritten autobiographies.

Palpable arrogance. He was probably stuned that the bloodthirsty JAGs didn’t back him up on committing to more armed interventions.

Surprised I am not. He is always convinced that he is the smartest guy in the room anyway.

This will be his undoing in the end. Look for some really major monumental screw-ups between now and next November.
