Pointing to double-digit unemployment rates among African Americans and Hispanics, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R.-Minn.) said on Friday that President Barack Obama “has failed” both these communities.
“This president has failed the Hispanic community. He has failed the African-American community,” said Bachmann. “He has failed us all when it comes to jobs.”
Bachmann, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination for 2012, made the remarks at the “Republican Leadership Conference” held in New Orleans over the weekend. Other Republican presidential contenders—including Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul and Herman Cain—also spoke at the event, as did Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who is reportedly considering a run for president.
Bachmann’s speech focused in part on what she described as Obama’s failure to promote economic growth and job creation—resulting in an overall national unemployment rate of 9.1 percent in May, a full 28 months into Obama’s term.
“Mr. President, the status quo is not working for Americans,” said Bachmann. “The status quo certainly isn't working for the African-American community, with 16 percent unemployment, or the Hispanic community, with nearly 12 percent unemployment. It's even worse for the youth: For Hispanic youth right now, 26 percent unemployment; for African-American youth, 40 percent unemployment.

“When we do so we just trap ourselves in the left’s narrative. It opens ourselves up to the obvious comeback question: “What are you going to do for the blacks?” Or the hispanics? Or the gays?”
It’s an opportunity to say “I believe that As MLK said all men are created equal, skin color or private sexual acts do not matter and I intend to govern a country in which that ideal is ‘lived’ rather than pandered about, such as has been done by the current admin. Do you in the media have a problem with equality or are some people, in your opinion, ‘better’ than others?”
Let them answer that.

And the reporter would then ask you, “Are you saying that African-American are as well off as white?”
Better to stay away from the “group” thing. It’s what they live on, and if you mention the word equality, you better be very specific about what you mean. That is another word that they use to hammer us with as well as its lefty synonym, fairness.
Sounds like politics as usual, you know, divide and conquer, also known as pandering. Sorry Michell, but Obama has failed America. There is no way this country is going to get fixed if we keep repeating the same things that destroyed it.

you know when I first heard her say that...I couldn’t put my finger on what was bothering me. You just did and I not only thank you for that but I agree 100%. Why not include the rest of us AMERICANS that this president has failed? He has FAILED ALL OF US. NOT just those two communities.

If you make the reporter answer the question you asked, and refuse to ‘move on’ until he does, he then cannot ask his without making himself look like the idiot he is.
We cannot run from this crap anymore. We have to fight it and them head on, otherwise we just get more of the same.
I’m sick and bloody tired of the ‘’African =American community’’ and the “Hispanic community’’ and whatever damned ‘’community’’ it is. Are we Americans and a sovereign nation or are we a f’ing boarding house? I’m so sick of this having to appeal to a dozen different ‘’communities’’.
It’s not a question of running away from it, it’s unconsciously accepting their world view.
My point is that simply by bringing it up, by using their vocabulary, you’ve already lost 80% of the battle. We should start all such discussions by debunking their view of the world.
We should say something like this:
“Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us — the spin masters, the negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of “anything goes.” Well, I say to them tonight, there is not a liberal America and a conservative America — there is the United States of America. There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America — there’s the United States of America.”
This resulted in a standing ovation at the 2004 democrat convention for the speaker - B. Obama.
That standing O for O did nothing to solve the problem. I don’t agree that we lose the battle or are accepting their worldview due to the fact that their worldview is precisely what we demolish by actively taking the fight to them rather than offering Obama-like speeches.
We have to fight, hard, at every opportunity and without fear of “what if” and “might offend”.
The time for scorched earth is here when it comes to libs and the media.
Do you notice that in the RARE instances that a conservative takes it to the libs publicly our side explodes in excitement? We are so very starved for that kind of leadership that we are awestruck when it happens. Do it on a non-stop basis and even the ‘moderates’ will remember where their spine is located.

Of course not - he didn’t mean it, nor is he acting like he meant it, but the people, even the dems rallied around the message, and many gullible people bought it and voted for him.
The point of bringing out that quote is to demonstrate that the majority of the people don’t buy into the left’s world view. That quote contains what WE believe in and it resonates with the vast majority and we shouldn’t get trapped into using the leftists language and concepts to fragment this country.
We should make that speech and MEAN IT.

You are right, I don’t think we’re that far apart either and I agree that we DO actually believe/embrace the things that O was talking about. I think where we’re differing is that I think that those kind of speeches, while true/important because of that truth, the time for them is both in the past and in the future. But as for the now, it’s time to define a very clear line for people to pick a side of.
You and I believe MLK’s idea in a colorblind society. Dem’s don’t and have turned the greatness of the idea into a hollow platitude that is meaningless for many...just words that pols spout looking for votes. Many think that the Right believes just the opposite and for us to say them, believe them though we do, they think we’re full of Obama because the dems trained them to believe that.
I think we need to burn the dems deceit to the ground and hammer them through the wall using their BS against them and using their twisted language against them.
Once we break people of the lie that the right are a bunch of racist inbred thugs, and once the public understands for themselves that the Dems actually ARE, then we can speak what we believe to a receptive audience. As of now, many won’t listen, and thus my belief that we need to bring the fight hard to create an environment in which they will want to listen to what we have to say and offer them.
IMO, that will never happen if we stick to the ‘high road’ because this is a fight that needs fighting. All the soaring oratory we could muster will only fall on deaf ears otherwise.
“African-American community...” I hate it when people refer to “hyphenated” groups of people. Either they’re Africans or they’re Americans. How about “the black community”. As long as groups are hyphenated, they’re not truly Americans.
Thanks for the info. I did not know any of tha about her. The fact that Rove put her forward is all I need to know. Unfortunately, my favorite politician, Jim Demint, has not been a governor either.
