Professor Morris Pollard was laid to rest Monday, denied the privilege of having his son Jonathan present to recite the Kaddish the traditional Jewish prayer for the dead over his grave.
Jonathan Pollard sat grieving for his father in his jail cell instead, his mother already having died -- also without his presence to comfort her in her final hours.
Despite thousands of phone calls that flooded the White House switchboard, an appeal to the U.S. State Department by Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren and pleas by dozens of Israeli lawmakers, the Obama administration refused to allow Pollard to attend his father's funeral.

Good.
I was going to say ‘Good’ but somebody beat me to it!
Good.
Good, I hope his father died realizing what a worthless POS he raised.
So, betraying your country and the freedom it has given you may negatively impact your freedom to make life’s choices later? I bet he didn’t see that coming.
We will be accused of being nazis, shortly, by the fanatics.
Actions have consequences. He must assume responsibility for the consequences of his actions. This is but one of them. I have no sympathy for him.
The bastard should be grateful - if the proper punishment were given to him for his treason, his father would have said Kaddish over his grave long ago.
I say good, too.
Sold our secrets to Pakistan ALSO.
And on multiple occaisions.
AND WAS PAID.
After he was imprisoned, over a dozen times he abused his mail priveleges to KEEP doing it..!
He could be out tomorrow if he would tell what he knows.
Since he wants to stay quiet, he can quietly stay.
(And if he didn’t still have some secrets to keep, you wouldn’t have most of these people trying to get him out.)
Pollard Jr should have beaten Pollard Sr to the other side by a couple of decades.
Pre-empting:
I’m a nazi, nazi, nazi, super extra double turbo NAZI with cherries on top.
If you could post a link to something about that, that would probably finalize it for me. Let him stay in for life.
Even hinting that J Pollard did something wrong is anti Semetic!

According to new evidence released by the FBI on Monday, Jonathan Pollard not only passed classified information on to Israel, but also to Pakistan and Australia. In a presentation given by FBI agent Ronald Olive that was broadcast on Channel 10, it was also revealed that Pollard was illegally involved in arms sales to Taiwan, France, Kenya, Afghanistan, and Argentina.
Tough s^#t.
Good.
If you want to be free to attend your father’s funeral, don’t commit treason.
Simple enough.
Maybe Johnny wasn't able to steal one from his jail cell.
Good.
The only one worse in this whole spying thing, was Pollard’s despicable wife. They shoulda given her extra time just for being such a loathsome human being.
Something is wrong with this picture...

OK. I’m convinced.
“Court snubs Pollard claim against Eitan In his report, Olive made no mention of what type of information Pollard passed to Australia and Pakistan, nor of how it was transferred. Olive also said the FBI had initially believed Pollard was spying for the Russians, and that they’d had no idea at the time that Israel was involved or that Pollard was even Jewish. “
The FBI is either retarded or lying on this last statement. I suspect the former. Sheesh.

Well stated, friend!
Maybe “both?”

Why Pollard Should Never Be Released (The Traitor)

He should never be released.
A significant percentage of Pollard's documents, including some that described the techniques the American Navy used to track Soviet submarines around the world, was of practical importance only to the Soviet Union. One longtime C.I.A. officer who worked as a station chief in the Middle East said he understood that "certain elements in the Israeli military had used it" -- Pollard's material -- "to trade for people they wanted to get out," including Jewish scientists working in missile technology and on nuclear issues. Pollard's spying came at a time when the Israeli government was publicly committed to the free flow of Jewish emigres from the Soviet Union. The officials stressed the fact that they had no hard evidence -- no "smoking gun," in the form of a document from an Israeli or a Soviet archive -- to demonstrate the link between Pollard, Israel, and the Soviet Union, but they also said that the documents that Pollard had been directed by his Israeli handlers to betray led them to no other conclusion.
High-level suspicions about Israeli-Soviet collusion were expressed as early as December, 1985, a month after Pollard's arrest, when William J. Casey, the late C.I.A. director, who was known for his close ties to the Israeli leadership, stunned one of his station chiefs by suddenly complaining about the Israelis breaking the "ground rules." The issue arose when Casey urged increased monitoring of the Israelis during an otherwise routine visit, I was told by the station chief, who is now retired. "He asked if I knew anything about the Pollard case," the station chief recalled, and he said that Casey had added, "For your information, the Israelis used Pollard to obtain our attack plan against the U.S.S.R. --all of it. The coordinates, the firing locations, the sequences. And for guess who? The Soviets." (boldface mine - Ronin)Casey had then explained that the Israelis had traded the Pollard data for Soviet emigres. "How's that for cheating?" he had asked.
Yep. He should never get out.
I understand he could get parole after 30 years. Hope he doesn’t.
Apparently he was eligible to apply for parole after 8 years, but declined to.
No mercy for traitors.
I think the 30 year one is automatic as long as he has a clean prison record or something.
I think you’re right, but that it’s the review of his case for probation at that time that’s automatic. Unless there’s a strong pressure from above on the review board when that happens, he probably won’t be spending the rest of his life there.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Sh*t happens, lots of people miss their parents funerals. Personally, I don't know why we let people out of prison for funerals. Misplaced compassion.
And Australia. OMG! The traitor Pollard spied for AUSTRALIA!
He attempted to. But he failed at that too, though I don’t want to insult your hero too much. The Australians let us know what he tried to sell.
Within two months of being hired, the technical director of the NFOIO, Richard Haver, requested that Pollard be terminated. This came after a conversation with the new hire in which Pollard offered to start a back-channel operation with the South African intelligence service and lied about his father's involvement with the CIA. Instead of terminating Pollard, Haver's boss reassigned him to a human-gathered intelligence operation. This was apparently because Pollard had a friend from graduate school in the South African intelligence service. In the vetting process for this position, Pollard, it was later discovered, lied repeatedly: he denied illegal drug use, claimed his father had been a CIA operative, misrepresented his language abilities and his educational achievements, and claimed to have applied for a commission as officer in the Naval Reserve. A month later Pollard applied for and received a transfer to the Naval Investigative Service (NIS) Surface Ships Division while keeping his TF-168[clarification needed] position. If Pollard had worse a blinking neon sign that said "I'm not trustworthy and will sell your secrets for cash" I don't think it could have been any more obvious.--Wikipedia
I remember all the security risks that got TS+, I as studiously avoided being in that mix. It was kafka-esque. I didn't need it. To me it was a badge of shame.
It didn't seem right.
We’ll have to meet at the New York Yacht Club some day in our next lives and discuss who our heroes are. Nice place. Pollard isn’t a hero, Washington is, fwtw.
I’ll have to take your word for it.
“If Pollard had WORN a “
