The TV (and radio) licence fee is still in force, and is still given exclusively to the BBC. They have, however, become considerably more commercially “savvy” in recent years. They have their own record label and publishing imprint, both of which make healthy profits, and they have become very adept at selling their products to other nations as well. In the US the top sellers are “Top Gear”, “Doctor Who” and “Antiques Roadshow”.
In view of satellite technology and BBC’s ability to make a profit; that ‘licence fee’ monopoly is corrupt in so many ways....not least of which is the ‘Big Brother’ house compliance monitoring.
A good conservative PM should make its elimination a top priority.
