“TSA Is Searching Your Subway, Truck, Ferry, Bus, AND Plane”

A very misleading title for the article. TSA is not searching any subway, trucks, ferries, buses, or planes.

Uh... I guess you missed this part of the article,

“TSA Administrator John Pistole told Congress last week that the TSA conducts 8,000 unannounced security screenings every year. These screenings, conducted with local law enforcement agencies as well as immigration, can be as simple as checking out cargo at a busy seaport. But more and more, they seem to involve giving airport-style pat-downs and screenings of unsuspecting passengers at bus terminals, ferries, and even subways. These surprise visits are part of the TSA’s VIPR program: Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response. The VIPR program first started doing searches in 2007, and has grown since then. Currently, the TSA only has 25 VIPR teams doing these impromptu searches: in 2012, it wants to get 12 more.”

The TSA later admitted that the VIPR operation should have ended before the train entered the station, but told the public that the Savannah passengers didn't have to enter the screening area... even though an eye-witness says a TSA agent instructed them to go into the screening area to collect their luggage... the luggage that was actually waiting somewhere else.

Well, how in the hell else are these hard working public servants going to have the opportunity to pilfer from passenger luggage to supplement their meager pay?

Damned rail passengers show up with their luggage just minutes before train departure and don't let the luggage out of their sight until it is loaded on boarding. The only real chance to "inspect" luggage is by separating luggage from their capitalist pig owners after they've arrived at their destination.

Think that will stop there? Next step, random car checks AND internal passports.

PAPERS PLEASE!!!

ANYONE who thinks this has anything REMOTELY to do with anti-terrorism security must still be watching cartoons.

This is about PEOPLE control. Its so the Fuhrer will have a mechanism in place when he declares his emergency PUTSCH, to stop any successful revolts.

I used my Android PDA GPS/Google Navigator to go to someone’s house the other day.

When I got there, the dang thing showed a photo of the house exactly from where I was sitting!

Creeped me out!

You are absolutely correct. They have about as much of a chance of catching an actual terrorist with these programs as they do finding a lump of gold by panning Lake Michigan.

LOL... Have you ever looked who the TSA pats down? Nuns, old folks in wheel chairs, 4 year olds, the handicap, veterans and babies....

Even though the Terrorist all fit the same profile.

Have the TSA even stopped one Terrorist?

Answer: No it’s always alert citizens that end up handling it.

“Gold panning can be done in any part of Michigan one of the better places is the shores of Lake Superior where they find gold in beach sands. Because of the way the gold was entered into Michigan it probably holds true that gold can be found in all the beach sands of the Great Lakes that touch on Michigan.”

I know a lot of patriotic FReepers aren’t going to like this but I believe this country has become as bad as and possibly worse than NAZI Germany or Communist Russia were in their heyday. The main difference being we of course don’t have concentration camps, gulags or mass killings...yet!

One big difference is that we started from a point of prosperity and other than the unconstitutional search and seizures and the plethora of annoying taxes and laws, we as a nation haven’t felt much real pain. It is on the way though. Hunger, imprisonment, and even more loss of freedom is on our horizon. I don’t see how we can avoid really bad times regardless of who gets elected.

Sure if Republicans take over this cycle the freedom loss won’t be as bad but the economic meltdown of this nation is, I believe, inevitable. I hope like hell I’m wrong but I don’t think so. Everyday it seems the amount of bad news just seems to point in the wrong direction. I’m not seeing anything positive at all. Even the euphoria of the 2010 elections has turned into somewhat of a nightmare with Boehner and company either asleep at the switch or, Heaven help us, in league with or perhaps I should say, in agreement with many of the left wing policies we here at FR are solidly against.

I truly fear for the future of our Republic. We have gone so far astray from the principles of our Founding Fathers it will take nothing short of a miracle to place our feet on the path back to righteousness and prosperity.

How many planes did they strip search? Or send through the x-ray machine?

How many buses ?

My point is that they are searching PEOPLE, not the vehicles.

The TITLE of the article says they are searching the VEHICLES.

One question, how long before TSA will hit the highways ? I don’t see it that far away. Or even worse, everytime you cross a state line, you have to go through an inspection both personal effects and your vehicle. I know some bigwig types would love that. When I travel, I go through some states where the equipment on my vehicle is not legal for the given state such as window tint and lights. I use E-Spec headlamps and not US-DOT spec.

That Department needs to be abolished.

Now it is a bureaucracy struggling to justify its existence.

Local authorities can handle 99% of the problems—the FBI can handle the rest.

No; it started out as security theatre. It has subsequently evolved to a species of terrorism in its own right -- convincing the people that their only choice is between mayhem and the omnicompetent Security State.
