Staff quit because "I'm different," Gingrich says Photo 11:04am EDT

By David Beasley

ATLANTA (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on Wednesday attributed the mass resignations among his campaign staff to the fact that he is "very different" from mainstream politicians.

"Philosophically, I am very different from normal politicians, and normal consultants found that very hard to deal with," Gingrich said in a speech to the Atlanta Press Club.

"We have big ideas. I just think that's part of how you campaign. You talk to the American people about big things."

Apparently some people care...

Nope, maybe people care about adultery, but they sure as hell don't care about this particular adulterer.....At this point, he may as well paint himself red, and sing, cuz he ain't even drawing negative press now.

...I am very different from normal politicians...

Well, that's true. Most people don't announce they are running for the conservative nomination for President of the US and then go on an expensive, lavish vacation during one of the longest recession/borderline depression eras in HISTORY OF THE US!

VERY different!

Translated; “I’m smarter than everyone else, they just can’t see things the way I do through my brilliant mind”

No, Newt. It's your freakshow wife the former Democrat staffer for the House Ag Committee turned trophy wife/gold-digger.

Happy trails....

Newt! How often do you have to be told by the voters that we don’t give a damn about you before you get the message?!

The picture with Pelosi alone is enough to deep-six Newt in my house!

This is the arrogance of the intellectual. My former Congressman, Newt, is an intellectual asshole. This is the same kind of arrogance that has recently led him to offer up the lame assed excuse that he "loved this country so much and worked so hard, he had to eff around on his then wife with Callista." These things, coupled with his odd fixation on saying "Callista and me....." would keep me from voting for him in ANY capacity, period.

He is now doing this for the travel, exposure and $$ (to pay off his Tiffany's bills) to get his numbers up as a post-2012 media pundit. Screw him.

You forgot a few:

Big Idea #0: Marry the chick you cheated on wife with

Big Idea #-1: Against prime directive 1 - screwing the help

Big Idea #-2: Dropping his pants

Big Idea #-3: Promise to hold Clinton responsible politically, philosphically and ethically.

The problem with Newt is his wife. He seems to be happy with his last choice and that is fine. Go off to retire but be sure you are close to hair, nail and pampering parlors. The young things cost money honey.

Newt, go back to writing books and lecturing and forget running for President. If your own staff can’t stand you how do you expect to win an election?

You’re right- it’s been going on for some time now- and this is the cherry on top. Sad.

I like Newt. He’s done a lot.

But I’m afraid he’s in John Edwards territory now, or worse. These staffers didn’t quit for no reason.
