The man should be arrested and charged immediately. His supervisor should also be arrested and charged as well for aiding and abetting as well as anyone else who knew of this lawlessness and turned a blind eye. The Secret Service needs to see some heads roll as well for botching a background check. The newspaper should see its White house credentials pulled for a long period of time as punishment for such an egregious act and total disrespect for the rule of law by its supposedly trusted employees.
I think Vargas needs to find out how paranoid he can feel behind bars. After that, he needs to be deported and never let back in. If his Grandfather is still alive, he needs to be jailed, lose his naturalized status and if he survives his incarceration, deported.
I hate stories like this because they’re designed to evoke sympathy. They should instead infuriate any law abiding American to the point that our legislators understand that if they don’t do something about this problem, the people will and when they’re done doing it, the legislators had better be gone as well.

This guy will probably win a Pulitzer Prize. Winners are often those who cause the biggest breach in US national security, and the security breach here and illegal alien sob story angle might prove irresistible to the prize committee.
