The Taliban has never killed anybody on American soil.

They harbored people who killed Americans on American soil, they supported those actions, and they continue to allow Al Qaeda to operate in those areas they control. If we pull out and the Taliban take over again, they are going to give Al Qaeda the run of the country again.

Al Qaeda is not going to stop trying to kill Americans if we leave Afghanistan, and the sooner you people stop listening to whatever modern version of Lord Chamberlain you're listening to, the better. We either fight them there, or we fight them here. If we fight them here, you can kiss the freedoms we hold dear goodbye. It doesn't take much to spook many Americans these days - just look at how easily George W. Bush got the PATRIOT Act passed, the Department of Homeland Security and TSA setup, and how he nearly got the Information Awareness Office setup, something the Soviets could only fantasize about. Nobody got booted out of Congress for supporting the PATRIOT Act of the creation of the DHS.

You are correct but you left out the part about the 9/11 terrorist operatives were not ignorant Afghan goat herders. They were western educated, English speaking Muslims primarily from Saudi Arabia and Egypt. We never attacked the Muslims in Saudi Arabia or Egypt. They're laughing their a$$ off at us. Our young solderers are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan while we are buying oil from and giving foreign aid to Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Hey now, Bush and a lot of Republicans in Congress said Saudi Arabia and Egypt were our friends, and Republicans in Congress are still willing to give plenty of taxpayer dollars to Saudi Arabia and other Arabic countries that have spawned radicals who killed Americans. George W. Bush and those Republicans in Congress must know something that we don't....after all, they would never screw over the US, would they? I mean, I have pictures of Bush holding hands with Saudi billionaires, who clearly need the American taxpayers to pay for their weapons.

You are right. We are so tied up in Saudi oil we have to look the other way on their terrorist activities. Until we start to tap our own reserves and become energy independent its going to be a gigantic ongoing problem.

I understand your concern but as far as Al Queda training camps in Afghanistan we can control that without 100,000 plus troops. We have satellites that can see a gnat on a blade of grass. They can spot training camps and then we send in a couple of hellfire missiles and poof no more terror camp.

You are not going to wipe out the Taliban. They are the indegenous people of Afghanistan. Its up to the Afgahnistani’s to decide whether to get rid of them or not. Alexander the Great could not conquer Afghanistan and neither will we. They are not going to come to the US and blow up malls.

The US cannot be continually entangled in 3-4 wars in the Mideast. First of all we cannot afford it and we have no right to invade soveriegn countries that have not attacked us. This business in Libya is beyond the pale. You can’t fight the whole world.

Being involved in all of these current misadventures is not keeping us safe. There is a southern border between Mexico and the USA that is wide open. Any Al Queda terrorists that want to come into the US and pull off another 911 are free to come at any time across that border. Frankly I’m shocked that they have not already done it. We would be a lot better served to stick 20,000 troops on the Mexican border and the Canadian border as far as that goes.

Using our own energy supplies will not improve the situation with the Muslims in the Middle East oil producing countries. Even if we were not dependent on their oil, our allies would still be.

Our current situation with the Middle East oil producing countries isn't much different than what existed with Axis powers leading up to WWII. Just like the Axis powers, the Middle East oil producing countries are a threat to the whole world. The difference is, especially with Europe, the Allies are accommodating the invasion through liberalized immigration policies. It looks like, this time, the Allies will be conquered.

Like I have said before, you have to find them first. We would do a LOT better in Afghanistan is we FULLY followed the Geneva Convention and treated them as they should be, like terrorists and criminals, instead of treating them like soldiers. If we did, they would be taken to military prisons, waterboarded for intel, tried and executed.
