Bachmannís Pardon-gate
http://minnesotaindependent.com/11967/bachmanns-pardon-gate-more-about-her-letter-withdrawing-pardon-request-for-petters-associate-vennes ^

Posted on 06/22/2011 9:47:39 PM PDT by RED SOUTH

Bachmann wrote the letter urging the president to pardon Vennes for his 1987 conviction on federal money laundering, illegal firearm sales and cocaine distribution charges. He was sentenced to five years in federal prison.

Vennes, has been a major financial contributor to Bachmann since 2005. Was Bachmann’s letter in support of Vennes’ presidential pardon a quid pro quo for Vennes’ largesse? Until Bachmann releases her original letter, the motivation behind it won’t be known. Bachmann chief of staff Michele Marston told Minnesota Independent Monday that “We’re trying to track down a copy of that letter."

Doesn’t this pardon request prove her “flexibility” and ability to “nuance”; her lack of “rigid ideology”?

Please lay off Bachmann - can you reply to this post and come clean? i.e. either you see Bachmann as the biggest threat to Palin or you are some DUmmy and realize that Bachmann may take worthless Romney down and is an actual gem that will stand up for what this country needs. Who else was alerting us as the mandatory Obama funding written in the Obamacare bill?

So let me get this straight. This guy was convicted 1987. In 2005, after apparently becoming an upstanding citizen, donating to Bachmann and other Republicans, Bachmann wrote a letter in support of a pardon.

What am I missing here? The pardon would have done nothing but wiped the 1987 conviction from his record. He was already out of jail.

That's not the full story. Now the creep is in trouble again which proves he never really reformed and Bachmann will take money from anyone to fund her campaigns. Hiring Ed Rollins should speak volumes in itself.

Vennes’ latest troubles involve an alleged giant Ponzi scheme with local billionaire Petters at the vortex of the widening probe. Although Vennes has not been charged, a federal search warrant affidavit accuses him of facilitating a $1.2 billion swindle of five investors in companies controlled by Petters, collecting more than $28 million in commissions in the process

Michele Bachmann got busted spending taxpayer money to help pay for a Tea Party event in DC recently. The money came from the Members’ taxpayer-funded office accounts, despite House rules prohibiting the use of these funds for political activities. This is typical D.C. business as usual. A President Bachmann would not drain the swamp in Washington because in the backrooms , she is part of it.

How do you like them big, bold apples?

Government's going to default, regardless of who becomes the next president. We may as well get it over with, and use the opportunity to rebuild with better leadership at every level of business, government and academia.

But was he in trouble when he was making those donations and Bachmann wrote the letter? He is in trouble now and she withdrew the letter. Hell, 90% of the time Democrats who find themselves with proven dirty money don't even bother to return it.

I can’t say Bachmann is pure as the driven snow, but she’s one of the few people in Congress addressing issues that I care about. I haven’t caught her making mistakes. I’ve thought quite highly of her based on what I’ve seen of her.

She stood up for the Tea Party and either started a caucus for them or helped start one. If that’s someone’s idea of a flawed politician, I’d like a double serving.

This wreaks of gotcha politics, and I’m not too impressed.

ok...lets just cut thru all the BS...I would like a clarification on this issue please

I understand that with very good reason that Romney and Rudy should he run will not be supported here in the primaries or maybe the general either by the FR brass but given what we know so far about Michelle Bachmann would she be acceptable here to support on the forum baring something pivotal that Bachmann bashers here may or may not produce

I am on record here repeatedly supporting Palin early on at Nashvile tea party 2 years ago or any other candidate who gets the culture war as I do but I also think Bachmann is on our side as well

If the leadership of the forum thinks otherwise..I would appreciate a heads up

Thank you

This wouldn’t be the first time someone guessed badly on a post-sentence pardon recommendation. It was many years ago and presumably she’s smarter now.

What’s this stuff about Bachmann using House funds on a Tea Party? What’s the full story, was it an inadvertent mistake and the funds repaid when the error became apparent, or is she really going rogue squared?

The story about the fund is BS, if you read the whole original story, the ending sentence says no laws were broken. Same as the letter stuff, you know how congress works, just because a letter is sent out by staff does not mean that the congress critter even knew about it.
