'Cultural generation gap': Most US babies are minorities, census shows

'We're living in a different world than the 1950s'

WASHINGTON — For the first time, minorities make up a majority of babies in the U.S., part of a sweeping race change and a growing age divide between mostly white, older Americans and predominantly minority youths that could reshape government policies.

Preliminary census estimates also show the share of African-American households headed by women — mostly single mothers — now exceeds African-American households with married couples, a sign of declining U.S. marriages overall but also of continuing challenges for black youths without involved fathers.

The findings, based on the latest government data, offer a preview of final 2010 census results being released this summer that provide detailed breakdowns by age, race and householder relationships.

The article links to several other articles reporting on the demographic showings of the latest census.

Probably the most worrisome aspect to this it is the apparent large growth of illegitimacy. I cannot remember the source, but I understand that is the single most reliable predictor of criminal tendencies. (When you adjust for socioeconomic factors, race ceases to predict anything.)

Perkins, however, is only partially right. Handouts need to go out the window for everyone except the elderly disabled. And no-fault divorce has to go.

By 2050 Spanish will be the majority language of the US.

Just left NYC where I go to visit my daughter and her family. Every time I go I am more amazed at the number of people speaking everything but English! Many of the languages I cannot identify.
I feel as though I just left a foreign country to return to my beloved midwest!

What? You thought just becoming the majority would remove the preferential minority status label?

Stupid cracker gringo!

If the trend continues, as it will, the minority European-Americans will become the ruling minority if for no other reason than they control the wealth.

Given this fact, it becomes easier to recognize Obama's frenzy to dismantle the US capitalism model, impose punitive taxes on the wealthy and destroy the middle class which is predominantly white (European - American).

The time has come for America's #1 racist, Barak Hussein Obama to go!!!

There won't be a US by 2050 if that happens. Hell, there won't be a US if Obama gets a second term.

As I've posted many times before, the 1965 Immigration Reform Act was the worst thing that ever happened to the United States. And we can thank the Democrats for it.

Some states will be primarily non-white European long before 2050. Texan is one.

I'm not holding out much hope for the U.S. or Europe. The liberals have pushed cultural suicide on both. I'm glad I got through before the U.S. collapsed.

I'll say it again. I'd like to read what future history books will say about our culture. I'll bet it won't be nice, A few years ago, the Prime Minister of Japan made an honest critical remark about the ignorant direction U.S. culture was headed. The Libs in the U.S. went bonkers. But, he was correct.

If I were a young white man in this country, I'd be looking for the exit. Depending on how things go for the next couple years, I may take an extended vacation somewhere else. Either that or buy more ammunition.

Does anyone think that when White Europeans become a minority, they will benefit from affirmative action?? I'm thinking that'll bet the biggest joke of the 21st Century.

We’re taking money from the responsible people, who then can’t afford to have kids, and giving it to the Free Sh*t Army members to make more leeches.

It's clear the younger generation is very demographically different from the elderly, something to keep in mind as politics plays out on how programs for the elderly get supported," she said. "It's critical that children are able to grow to compete internationally and keep state economies rolling."

Interesting juxstaposition of comments.

I suspect seniors well being will suddenly become a non-priority for government. Let those crusty ol racists fend for themselves.

White women are just too busy working, talking on their cell phones, hanging out at the local Starbucks sipping lattes, going to school, watching the TV or surfing the Internet, going on vacation, or other self-involved activities to worry about getting married and having children.

"Hispanics" are a made-up race.

They are of European, Catholic descent. At legal immigration levels, they would assimilate into U.S. culture very easily.

I lived in a neighborhood with a large Puerto Rican population for 20 years. The first generation spoke very little English. Their kids spoke both English and Spanish. And by the third generation, the Spanish was somewhat understood, but not spoken.

It's the same pattern that Italian-American families experienced (among others). If not for the illegal part, there would be nothing here of interest.

Is it possible for a blonde woman to drive an SUV without talking on a cell phone?

I have documented when the cell rings the very first item of business is to tap the brakes and disengage the cruise control. Then, when the blonde talks, she slows down to about 50 and while listening she speeds up to about 75. So she yo-yo’s down the interstate.

My wife and I took a count and figured around 65% of the drivers on I-77 were yaking on a cell phone and 100% of blondes in SUVs were on the phone.

That is assuming there will still be a United States. Technically, the United States of America ended on Jan 20th, 2009.

God help my children. The "minorities" will have all voting power they need to do whatever they want, and it will be used most irresponsibly. It will be like letting children vote on what they want for dinner and when they want to go to bed and whether or not to brush their teeth. No matter how much "fun" it is to start, reality eventually catches up.

Also although black and hispanics considered together will be a majority (and majority voting block), each will still be a minority in their own right relative to whites. So each subset will still claim minority status for decades to come, although their combined vote will be a majority. Say goodbye to your 401K when it's voted away from you.

I like how they cozy up to the driver’s side door with the phone firmly planted in their ear and then proceed to slow down and go at least 10mph slower than everyone else.

The next big thing in plastic surgery will be women getting cell phones implanted into their heads.

You think that's bad? When I lived in Miami, going to NYC felt like going back to the United States of America! Then I moved to France in December 2007 and I had almost no culture shock--it was just like going from one expatriation to another!

"Hispanics" are a made-up race. They are of European, Catholic descent. At legal immigration levels, they would assimilate into U.S. culture very easily.

It's the same pattern that Italian-American families experienced (among others). If not for the illegal part, there would be nothing here of interest.

First of all, most Latin Americans have some degree of admixture (actually, many more Anglo-Americans than one might expect do as well, but this fact is of little significance in our social structure). It is true that the European strain predominates in Puerto Ricans and in the descendants of the Hispanics who happened to live in the Southwest when it was ceded to the U.S. by Mexico. It is also true that there are not a few wealthy blacks, Amerindians, mestizos and mulattos in Latin America. It is also true that some wealthy black and mulatto Cubans were among the first refugees to come to America's shores.

However, most of the Latin Americans who come to the U.S. TODAY are visibly NOT of predominantly European strains. More importantly, they come from the poorest and least European-IZED sectors of Central and South American society. Not only are they poor, but also the cultural norms that they assimilate to tend to be the underclass cultural norms, seriously exacerbating the undeniable social problems in the U.S..

Moreover, there was never a chance that a major political party would be 100 percent overwhelmed by an Italian-American lobby. Italians were NEVER a majority of the immigrants admitted and although there were some isolated cases of Italians pushing for mandatory Italian classes in public schools in certain counties, the Italian language never has been nor has ever had any chance of becoming as ubiquitous as Spanish has become. For that matter, Italians were concentrated in a few areas in the United States. Hispanics are by now VERY spread out and it is hard to find a state--and indeed it is impossible to find a state among the large ones--that does not have a VERY substantial Hispanic minority.

Not that Italians ever had the chance to become so ubiquitous. And that brings us to our last point: the Immigration Quotas of 1921 and 1924 were passed with overwhelming majorities, with only a scant few dissenters. There was a strong enough sense of national pride and national identity that 1) the country was willing to do what it took to prevent the situation from getting further out of hand, and 2) there was actually something worthwhile for immigrants to assimilate to.

That is not the case today. Try clamming for English-only policies at the State level and you will be shouted down as a racist, even if you favor amnesty for illegal aliens. Both political parties have been talking about mass amnesty and expansion of immigration for the last seven years AT LEAST.

There is no end in sight to this flood of immigration or to the subsummation of the United States into Latin America.
